Villa aren't around us in the league? Bournemouth and Palace have sold their best players, West Ham are in a desperate relegation battle and throwing money around to try to stay up, Fulham have signed one player. I'm not saying our recruitment is great or we've done the right thing or whatever, but I don't see the point in pretending it's massively out of keeping with what happens elsewhere because it's not. We as fans love to sit here and say January isn't a difficult window, but pretty much every club says it is and the type of deals being done back it up. I would like us to have picked up a couple more in this window but it's clearly not as easy as we'd like it to be.Yeah, I mean if you ignore the fact that the teams in the league and around us strengthened as soon as they could (like Villa getting players as early as possible to have a full squad, as did Bournemouth, Palace, Fulham, Tottingham, WHam and even S'land), no one's signed those two guys.
We can't really criticise something that hasn't happened,Kind Sir.....so leaving us with no actual RB (outside of Coleman) left at the club?
Great planning that
Well, obviously we can.We can't really criticise something that hasn't happened,Kind Sir.
Cuffy is he the one that kills vampires ?Never watched a single second of Cuffy.
Seen enough of Patterson to say he is not good enough for us.
Cuffy is he the one that kills vampires ?
That makes sense. Cheers!…not sure how much they’re asking for Norton Cuffey but they paid very little for him so might think they can make a big profit.
Another boxed checked, especially against Villa.Cuffy is he the one that kills vampires ?
Haha, I don't do coffee. No shortage of DeCaf at EFC this window though. On
Ever tried Decaf?
Yeah, cuz they did over the summer - now is the time to strengthen the squad you have, but we have no full squad and haven't even strengthened anything, as the summer was also a dithering mess where we took weeks more for everything, being "Interest FC". At this point a loan from any league is a player we at least have so we don't have to necessarily play Dwight McNeil, as there are no doubt many players who can fill the loan slot there and do better, but no doubt we've not tried.Nobody's signed a right back as far as I can tell
Also, worth mentioning that Bournemouth, Palace, Spurs and West Ham have all made major sales to fund those acquisitions. Sunderland are an exception, but they've bought a winger from the Israeli league, a keeper from the Swedish league and loaned a player from the Polish league - maybe they'll work out, but there wasn't a big queue of other interested top clubs there.
I mean I mentioned specifically not those teams strengthening their squads, but as above - they're squads that they've planned since summer and are mostly going for depth, whereas we apparently don't need depth anywhere and are good to go again.Usually because they are Man City, Arsenal or Liverpool and all operate in a very different market to us. European football and available capital mean that they don't need to negotiate. Players want to go there which makes the rest of the conversation VERY easy for the buying clubs.
Semenyo - yep, we'll pay his release clause
Guehi - yep, he'll come here's £20m
Patterson was marking his man for the Leeds goal. McNeil didn’t track the runnerPatterson was out of position for the Leeds goal but I can’t deny he’s been good since he came back into the picture. It’s unfortunate for him that it’s just not worked out here.
well when the goal went in he was behind Pickford and their left sided player scored. Our right back was behind our keeper. Doesn’t seem like he was marking him to me.Patterson was marking his man for the Leeds goal. McNeil didn’t track the runner
