I long for the days we use this window to exploit the desperate.
Plus they did almost nothing in the summer and Silva was going off his head. They are about the worst example you could find of the sort of ambition Everton should be showing.
100%.There was a chance to break into that top 8 this season, that may well not be there next season.
I don’t think it was a huge ask to try and upgrade on Myko, Patterson or McNeil - all of whom will be playing lots of games til the end of the season.
I don’t really get the logic of anyone who thinks differently tbh.
Last summer we needed to wait for the end of FFP year, our first transfer was 9th July and last was 25 August, with 7 coming in that time. We can get players in before July this year.I dont trust us to get recruitment right in either transfer window. We've needed full backs and goalscorers for multiple years and repeatedly fail to prioritise these positions.
And the job doesn't become any easier when you decide not to be active in 50% of transfer windows, and to do the bulk of your recruitment over a 2 week period at the end of August every year.
European football was a possibility at least this season. To decide to do nothing is a clear lack of ambition and urgency in my opinion.
It’s ‘their time’100%.
Grealish gone, Ndiaye and Branthwaite probably 50/50 as to whether they're here next season... and people are talking like it's ok to tread water until the end of the season because "Rome wasn't built in a day".
Club is happily throwing away a golden opportunity here. Likely one that Fulham, Bournemouth or Brighton will benefit from after they are pro-active in strengthening their squad this month.
We managed to get the bulk of the business we needed to get done last Summer, done without the allure of Europe. That has left us substantially less to do this coming Summer (pending outgoings) and so you would like to think that v1 of the overhaul gets completed this Summer.McNeil and Mykolenko on that listthe fact is, Ndiaye gets injured and the quality of that list drops DRAMATICALLY. No pace, no end product at all. We are very much one or two injuries away from having no wingers and O’Brien back at right back.
Why are we acting like people want ‘shiny new players’ for the sake of it and not to address glaring weaknesses in the squad, as well as addressing the impact that several long term injuries have had and will have?
Again with the arbitrary timescales and rigid expectations, we’re 4 points off 5th but god forbid we try and keep pushing, the pre-season expectations won’t let us
Sick of hearing about the ‘long term future’ being a reason to not take a risk, like forever not being in Europe isn’t the biggest killer to progress long term itself. This absolute LIE about saving ourselves until summer to kick on. Wasn’t the reason we couldn’t get the players we wanted last summer due to lack of Europe? So we’re going to be in the exact situation again then, getting players way down the list that blow extremely hot and cold (more often cold). Then the same cycle of ‘wait and see’ starts anew
Can’t believe some fans actually think he doesn’t want to sign players, of course he does but it’s not up to him. TFG and the recruitment team decide i
Then we need to pack up and call it a day, no point going week in week out. No point wasting our time on a club that has zero intention to achieve anything above the minimum expectations. We managed to get the bulk of the business we needed to get done last Summer, done without the allure of Europe. The key thing to remember in all this, in my opinion, is we are owned by utterly dispassionate investors. If mid-table was the acceptable target for them based on their outlay to date, and we're on course for that, they aren't going to chuck more money at us in the hopes it *might* result in Europe. It is very possible, as every Evertonian knows, that we chuck money at it now and actually go backwards through poor/rushed/desperate recruitment, after all.
Slightly OT and not aimed at you… just the way the hatred of Myko has amplified now the players around him have improved.Mykolenko was bought because FSW sold our only left back, Patterson was bought because we’ve needed a right back forever, Aznou was bought because Mykolenko is turgid. None of them were panics.
Well, let's not forget that the recruitment team wasn't fully in place until after the summer window closed.I dont trust us to get recruitment right in either transfer window. We've needed full backs and goalscorers for multiple years and repeatedly fail to prioritise these positions.

Wouldn’t be bothered if it was aimed at me, it’s obvious he’s the weakest link on the pitch and is often at the heart of our attacks breaking down consistently. What I can never blame him for though is him being picked every game and getting 90 minutes, that’s firmly on the manager.Slightly OT and not aimed at you… just the way the hatred of Myko has amplified now the players around him have improved.
Definitely no-one’s idea of an ideal modern full back, but Myko has reliably and consistently been part of a tight, risk averse defence that has kept the club from relegation and financial oblivion in multiple seasons. Right player for the right time. And it clearly means something to the lad.
Should have been one of the first areas improved when TFG started funding players. Can’t blame him that they haven’t. At least he appears always be trying his best, even if it’s very limited now in our new style, unlike some performances we’ve seen in the last few weeks.
Building off what you we were saying I think that's why replacing mykolenko hasn't been a priority as although he's a very limited player he is defensively sound which is a quality Moyes appreciates in a player despite his flawsSlightly OT and not aimed at you… just the way the hatred of Myko has amplified now the players around him have improved.

If our transfers last summer were a result of calm, measured recruitment then it's definitely time you tear up the playbook and start rushing deals though instead. We managed to get the bulk of the business we needed to get done last Summer, done without the allure of Europe.
