January Transfer Window 2026

Really, though, we shouldn't be in a position where we have to make do with a player who just so happens to be available. It's a position we have been short in, not just this season but for many seasons, and the people in charge of recruitment should have had targets lined up, agents spoken to and preliminary conversations with clubs long before the window opened and long before Keane decided to get into hairstyling. The Keane thing has thrown it into sharp relief but it's an ongoing problem.
I agree Windy but this comes down to the chronic mismanagement of the Moshiri era which rendered us rudderless in the last couple of seasons. We need to be patient with the new owners and the new transfer and scouting team as we're a work in progress where we'll not solve all the missing pieces in the puzzle in one go. If we're starting next season with O'Brien at right back and Beto as our other option for the striker position then I'll be joining all the fans who are criticising the clubs recruitment team

I dunno, RB seems like a position we could resolve in this window. It's typically not a super expensive position to recruit to and it's been so obviously a problem all season. I'm not sold on TFG as yet, I suspect they're here to milk the PL millions and just staying up is good enough for them. As you say, it's early days, and I very much hope I'm wrong, but we're literally chucking away the season as it stands and a couple of inexpensive signings this window could reverse that trend, nowhere more so than at fullback.

Was reading this tweet the other day and thought how absolutely mental is that? A club needing full-backs, looking in the market for a full-back. Could never imagine that sort of out-of-the-box thinking going on here.

Shame we aren’t in the Champions League too echelons

Im midly confused just seen Nuno in his press conference telling JWP he needs to leave the club.

Im confused, he was decent player when he went there and since West Ham have had a massive issue with him.

Worth a punt or am I talking pish?
He was slow four years ago. He's glacial now. Hits a good dead ball, but there's a reason he's not getting into that awful West Ham side.

I have my doubts too with TFG but we're in a situation where we have to give them the benefit of the doubt until proven that they aren't good owners. The way I see it is we've improved this season from last and have a more younger and potentially better squad going forward. I'm far from convinced Moyes is the manager to take us forward though but equally he's not done too badly since his return so I'm happy to see how he fares the second half of the season before judging him definitively (though I hope our board and Angus Kinnear are identifying potential new managers for future reference)

This coming summer will be very revealing in terms of TFG's plans for the club. If Moyes is still in post and we fail to address key positions in the team again then I'll be fairly sure that they are just in it to stay in the league and cream off as much as they can from the club. If we see the sort of changes we all hoped were coming last summer then happy days. After the Moshiri debacle, however, no owners get the benefit of the doubt from me. I'll judge then on their actions and up to now it's been a bit mixed from TFG.
