January Transfer Window 2026

The summer will be a tough market and I suspect very slow with the world cup. We have to get a right back this month even if there is a January mark-up on him, it will be worth it if he can go straight into the team. Frees up O'Brien for centre back, gives us balance and more pace and an ability to play a higher line. Our CBs were terrible V Brentford, kept getting caught out for pace. The map has been drawn and Wolves will do the exact same on Wed if no changes made.

No, that’s exactly how they want you to think. We should have deals lined up and ready to be completed before players even depart for the World Cup, there’s absolutely no excuses for our recruitment team to not be speaking to agents and clubs in the time from now until June. Stop handing them their excuses on a plate, they are bluffers and need calling out for it.

Wondered whether we could loan Aznou or others to Preston...the A.I answer is yes.

A Championship team can loan up to four players from any one club (like a Premier League team) per season, with a maximum of two being over the age of 23 at the season's start; however, they can name only five loan players in their matchday squad, regardless of the total registered. These rules ensure lower-league clubs can utilize talent without overwhelming their squad or loaning too many from a single top-flight source, with younger players (under-21) often exempt from certain limits.

Key Rules for Championship Loans (from PL/other EFL clubs):

Total Seasonal Loans (from one club): Maximum of 4 players.Age Restriction: Of those four, only 2 can be over 23 years old (determined by June 30th).Matchday Squad Limit: Only 5 loan players can be named in the squad for a single match.Young Player Exemption: Players under 21 generally don't count towards squad list limits.

In Simple Terms:
A Championship team could, for example, sign 4 players from a Premier League team in a season (e.g., 2 over-23s and 2 under-23s), but in any given game, they could only pick 5 of their total loan players.

Teamtalk, teamtalking.

Intermediaries = Kia Joorabchian.

He's part of Bertolucci Sports who are full of names we have been linked with during the Moshiri/Joorabchian days

Kia Joorabchian is a prominent Iranian-born businessman known for his deep involvement in football transfers, acting as an advisor and representing investors in player rights, often working closely with his long-time associate, Brazilian agent Giuliano Bertolucci,

Looks like he's got bored of messing up Forest and seeing if we will bite again , and also trying to get a foot in the door with spurs' new owners

The manager and the Director of Football or recruitment team need to be fully aligned on incoming players. Once compromises start being made for example, the manager getting a few of his own signings while recruitment brings in others, you end up with situations like West Ham now, or Everton over the past ten years.

I don't really understand Al's point here.

Why would a DoF model would work internationally but not in England?

That would only make sense if every manager, every director of football, every CEO and every owner were British.

Modern football is so far from its parochial past - it's probably the most global industry in the country.

If it works internationally and not here, it's a problem with the implementation - not the idea.

….not sure Moyes has a reputation for aerially dynamic full-backs

Regardless, this sounds like somebody knocking on our door to ask if we’d like to buy rather than us pro-actively identifying a target. I suppose we could get lucky in that regard.
He literally said that he likes the height that O'Brien gives us at right back, and while he would like someone who could offer more going forwards he doesn't want to lose that height advantage.

If we don't sign a right back this January I'm going to be looking at Moyes tbh. Seems to me there are deals to be done.

He's also just hilariously wrong:
