January Transfer Window 2026

Good player, walks into the team obviously - but having Armstrong supposedly coming back and Moyes allegedly liking Rohl, I'd find it hard to believe we'd sign someone like Gallagher who would block the pathway for them - think he'd come in as our 2nd highest earner after Grealish as well

We need a group of players in there so when one player is missing we don’t have this massive drop off we’ve had in the past. E.g. James gets injured and Tom Davies replaces him.

Starting 3 of Garner KDH Gallagher with Rohl Armstrong Iroegbunam Alcaraz competing for places would be a decent group. Gana off to Saudi in the summer for a fee hopefully.

Fair point, but we are still missing a proper number 6. Would be happy to see Alcaraz punted and a specialist number 6 brought in

Gana is the weak link for me and we need to move him on. Can’t play as a 6, can’t hold his position in a double pivot, not good enough on the ball to be an attacking 8. Just not good enough in any midfield position. Move him on and buy a top quality 6 to compete with Garner.

Not a chance Conor Gallagher is a better player than James Garner, crazy shout. We may as well have kept Doucoure if you want Gallagher, two players far better without the ball than with it. Doucoure is/was better in the air as well.
Conor Gallagher is a Temu Mason Mount, if you want to improve as a football team you get better footballers than you have, not athletes that run about and lack technical ability with the ball. Dewsbury Hall has shown this in less than 6 months already.

Would be to play in a 3 with/ahead of Garner and KDH though surely, rather than replacing either of those 2 players.

Full backs much bigger priority, but last few days I have been thinking that a better player starting behind the striker with KDH staying as an 8 is probably the next realistic big improvement you could make to our strongest 11.

Gallagher I think would be good in there. Much better footballer than Doucoure imo but does have that workrate and physical presence which is really important in that area of the pitch nowadays.

Hated watching Doucoure play there, but when you look at how much Wirtz is comprehensively not being able to affect games from that position it does make you realise the importance of certain attributes that Doucoure brought to that position despite his many (many) shortcomings.

Gallagher is better than Garner. Garner has been great this season but been a nothing player before that. He may become better than Gallagher but isn’t there yet.

As for comparing Gallagher to Doucoure that’s insane.

I wasnt a fan of Saha from his time at United when he was always injured. With us his injuries were pretty consistent as well.

Cant understand Moyes fetish for injury prone or ageing players.

We need Barry to come good or a centre forward signed. But why would TFG trust Moyes with money?

He signs players then doesnt use them.
Pretty sure he signed saha and he scored 4 goals in one match
He was crap.
Pretty sure he wasnt

Two players better without the ball than with it, do you honestly think it’s “insane” to compare them? I don’t.

Gallagher easily starts ahead of all our CM’s bar KDH…

He could play the advanced role KDH was earlier in the year, he has the legs to get back to make a midfield 3 as well.

Charly and Tim aren't serious starters IMO or rather Moyes wont start them all fit.

I think wel look to move both on in time.

Garner holding with KDH and Gallagher as the 8s ahead would be a decent midfield. There’s goals in the attacking mids and good work rate and technique throughout.

If Gallagher was the medium term replacement for Gana I wouldn’t be adverse to it.

LCM: KDH
RCM: Garner
ACM: Gallagher

The perfect Moyes midfield.

English, high energy and added goals.

Would be delighted with this.

Gallagher would be a massive financial outlay for a very limited footballer. Don’t misunderstand me, he’s fantastic off the ball but his best attributes are all without the ball. I would want a far better and technical footballer for the type of money and wages you’d have to fork out for a Conor Gallagher.
