January Transfer Window 2026

The worry for me is/was

They wanted Delap, they got a completely different profile of forward in Barry

They wanted Fofana/Conceicao, they got a completely different profile of player

They went for Tete, they never went for another right back and Moyes happily confirmed that he was happy to have Coleman and Patterson as back up to Obrien.

It was a scattergun approach imo and one which will cost us a chance of Europe of we dont try and remedy it in January.
Let's see where we stand after the next two fixtures against teams 19th and 17th.

That will be the mid point of the season, and we are currently 3 points off 6th.

Delap and Barry are both young forwards looking to cut their teeth in the Premier league.

Delap's time at Man City's academy and on loan has accelerated his development and is about a year ahead of Barry.

He is 0 from 8 this season in a good Chelsea side.

Both need time to become established and find good form.

For what it's worth - and I have plenty of concerns about our recruitment process - I see the patterns in what they were looking for. Players will obviously differ hugely, but every single winger we looked at was pretty much all about ball-carrying. None of them were focused on clever passing or getting shots off, they were all dribblers and ball carriers.

And - weirdly - same with Delap and Barry. They were both well above average in carrying the ball last season for strikers.

It's also basically Röhls only attribute.

Now I don't know why we focused so hard on this only for Moyes to then turn us from a very counterattacking team to the least counterattacking team in the whole league...but there was at least a theme to the recruitment.

Delap is miles ahead of Barry!

Not seen Iroegbunams passing or driving runs develop.

Alcaraz knows he'll be dropped no matter what

Dibling not given a real chance yet.

We have one year options for both him and Garner. Not sure when these need to be activated by.

No brainer to activate them both.

What we need is for Aznou to be ready and then gradually push Mykolenko to backup.
Thank you! I knew about JG but not about AM. Agreed

You do realise that last season we didn`t reach the points total we`re currently on until February !

Stats say that if you`re on 20 points at the start of New Year, you`re not going down.

In effect we need to win 4/5 more games out of the 19 remaining games and even if Dyche was still the managing the team, I think we could manage that.
So finishing between 15th to 17th every year is what the "optimum" now means in NSNO? got it. We may actually achieve our goals then:)

Squad was never getting completed in one window, not even two, probably not even 4, it's all a process.

Need to remember where we were start of pre-season.
Dont try to bring optimism in here:) My concern is we signed a bunch of players in the summer...only one ( KDH) is playing or playing well...not very encouraging
