Sporting Life....We'll start off at Newcastle, who have a nine-man transfer shortlist for January, which includes Everton winger Anthony Gordon and three Chelsea players - Hakim Ziyech, Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Daily Telegraph).

The club - sat in the top-four in the Premier League table - are considering a £35m move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin despite his struggles with injury in recent seasons.

35m gets us Beto from Udinese with change. Given DCLs injury worries it would be sensible to accept, even though if he does get back to form he’s worth a good bit more. Rather they take that risk than us.

West ham enquired about, bid, agreed personal terms, had a medical and then completed the signing of Ings in about 24 hours. Idiots, do they not know the power of mulling over a bid and weighing up options?
Villa got Ings out of the blue, no mention / rumours, just signed from Saints to the surprise of everyone. Must be just how his agents get things done, no fuss.
