That's a bit harsh on Lidl tbh, more like Poundland.
just shoot me now...So the answers to our problems are in the squad apparently because Pienaar, Osman and Mcgeady are definitely the missing links.
If you start that poll with multiple adjectives to describe our supporter base, it will be a poll I will be happy to partake inAmazes me how many fans still believe it's the manager actually not wanting signings...it happened with Moyes and it's happening with Martinez.
Quick poll...are our fans the most innocent fans on the planet? We seem to believe everything thats thrown at us.
ST renewal time "keep an eye out, new stadium and 3 new investors"
ohh have you heard? New stadium! A billionaire!! Finally
Jan when we could be pushing 4th/avoiding relegation (diff seasons obviously) "we don't want to spend on the wrong players, we're waiting for the right one"
ohhhh good thinking, yeah lets get them in summer
Repeat.
Yea except we had been following Gil who said it himself that Everton enquired about meeting his release clause this time last year and he went to a team even worse than us for a paltry 3.2m.“You never get value for money [in January], first and foremost, and you will not get players you have been following for a long time,” Martinez says.
“If you want to rely on January to find solutions for your season then it is a big gamble. But we will carry on working."
“With Arouna Kone being fully fit, I see him as a replacement for Samuel's position and it is more about trying to get the players back from injury."
“There are players coming back from injury to create the competition in the squad and I don't feel it is the window to bring solutions for us."
Unfortunately that's the January window.Sounds like he's not wanting to paint himself into a corner on getting someone in. That's sensible. If none of the irons in the fire he has come to anything he's avoiding leaving himself a hostage to criticism that he promised faces in and never delivered.
Reading between the lines, it looks like he acknowledges that Osman and Pienaar are not going to make it back this season and he's looking to bring in a replacement if the finances are doable (which they should be if that clown Kenwright doesn't bank all the Eto'o savings).
We've got the money however my guess is it's being kept for the stadium "project". Either it will be wasted or we might actually have a new stadium in 5 years.I got a feeling that the purse strings are being kept closed due to the clubs uncertainty about how this season is gonna finish. If the dreaded 'R' word took place it's just more wasted money plus a mass exodus of players on top and probably for less than what we paid. I think they are looking at seeing the season out and if we stay up then look at spending in the summer.
Plus I think we blew our load on Rom in the summer and we ain't got much cash left.
So we can't even sign frees?
Martinez probably wants signings bill doesn't want to spend bill isn't bothered aslong we stay a prem club.
The squad is thin and has injurys we need players
Carles Gil, 3.2m.Unfortunately that's the January window.
There's absolutely no value in the market. Nobody wants to sell anyone who's any good and even the dross people want rid of is either hideously overpriced (because they engineer the move), or the other team think they aren't good enough to justify the wage.
Best we can really hope for is a couple of good loans, even then they will be hit or miss because if they were any good/finished article, then they'd be playing and not loaned out.
Would you send your loan player to us with our injury record.Saving money for possible relegation doesn't stop loans though.
I'm almost fascinated to see how he would put a positive spin on relegation.
