James Rodriguez

He certainly is/was a Beautiful player, But it's another generational call. Valderrama had the biggest impact on the game in Columbia and he was class. And he also had the greatest head of hair going.
Valderrama was a gifted player, but he was more about pretty triangles than actual output. The James goal against Uruguay isn't something Valderrama would even have bothered to try. He'd have backheeled it to Freddy Ricon before pirouetting to receive a pass from Bernardo Redin to set up a spliff for Rene Higuita.

An iconic player, Valderrama, but perhaps more of a personality player than a genuinely effective one.

All about the different era's again though isn't it.
You can't ever really answer these kind of questions, it's just opinions and maybe memories that stick out.

Valderrama done more for the game in Columbia than anyone else, Rodriguez kept the flame burning.

Surely people look at his career since leaving us and can see why we made the decision to move him on?
I mean yeah but we know it wasnt a pure football move, it was Benitez settling some old scores. Moshiri did some wild things, the hiring of the fat waiter was by far the most disastrous and self destructive thing he ever did.

Weren’t we top four at Xmas under Carlo and with James?

One of the best parts for me that season was James down holding his face and Coleman giving it to the WBA player as he was sent off.

We were behind in that game and we came back to win and DCL was ripping it up.

I honestly we thought we would do somthing special that year.
