His main attribute is passing, and he is exceptional at it. He will find gaps that very few others can and deliver it to perfection. For that to be effective the other players have to be making runs and at the moment it isn't happening. It's not really James fault plus we are having between 25-40% possession, how's he supposed to influence a game, not his fault.

I'm beginning to think this is a 'Samuel E'to joins Everton' scenario all over again.
Lets put him in a team where everyone else runs a lot. We can only carry one player who offers nothing off the ball, but we are a long long way off having that. We aren't as good as people think and are really struggling to accomodate him in a viable system where we don't ship 2 and 3 every game.

You buy players to fit around him, not get rid of the players who help turn the game on its head. It’s an absolute myth that he doesn’t do anything off the ball.
But I’m glad that the route of all our problems is James Rodriguez.
Let’s bench him and play Alex Iwobi every game, useless on the ball but he’ll put a shift in

The root of the problem is that we have several players who are too easy to play against and lose their 1 v 1 battles every week.
James is not the problem, but finding the right system with these players to get the best out of him is a huge problem. Unless we have a fully fit first 11, there are a lot of flaws in our team, and injuries are inevitable.
I don't see why people keep over-reacting to this point. It's very hard to accomodate luxury players in average teams, but when the player has far more quality than everyone else at the club, then you need to work it out. We just haven't been able to work it out yet and there might not be a solution with this playing squad.
We can’t accommodate a luxury player because the rest of the team are not good enough, so the answer is to put in another average player in place of the luxury one.

If you add Allan - Doucoure - Davies behind him and let them cover the flanks as well as use Richarlison and DCL down the wings.
It gives him the artistic license to be that playmaker because yes he will be man marked but he frees up space and allow turns the ball over quicker to create counter-attacks.
I hope now that Allan is back and hopefully DCL we can switch to this formation and start climbing up that table.
