Seamus made a ton of overlapping runs though. Watch it again if you like. Hamez favored switching play on nearly every occasion. While he produced some ace stuff on those switches to Digne and Richy, it wasn't like there wasn't the overlapping option on the right. A case of the eye test proving stats wrong.
Iirc that was more in the latter stages though when Spurs defenders started to tire?

Overall thought Seamus had a great game but much as I love him he probably isn’t capable of full game bombing forward that he used to do such as the Martinez Arsenal game.

First half I recall several times where Seamus made the run but the ball was pinged to Digne instead. I commented on it in the match thread in fact.

Hopefully something that can be worked on in training then.

Maybe. My gut says that Hamez was trying to make an impression on his debut. I mean those expansive switches were impressive. Pinpoint accurate stuff. He made his point big time.

I reckon he will have to mix it up a bit more going forward to keep people honest, and I would also expect he knows that.

For me the lack of Coleman's production as a right sided partner was not down to Seamus' willingness to make the runs.

No idea what he ate that day as it hadn't happened before, nor since...corporeal possession, perhaps. I won't forget it.

Maybe he likes Richy's game.

Either way, whatever it was, I'm sure they'll work it out. James will need someone to play with when pressured

And if Coleman will keep making overlapping runs, James will eventually find him with a freaking pinpoint through pass that will leave the defense poorly set up.

There were just so many monents of that season that were brilliant, another couple from Seamus that year were the celebration of his Swansea goal with kicking seven bells out of the advertising hoardings and this bit when Oviedo scored and he didn’t know which way to run to celebrate lol

That season will live long in my memory, hopefully James can add some equally fun moments to this one!

It's been a good start but I've already told a few co-workers, both Spurs supporters, that I'll need a minimum of another 10 matches to believe that any corner has been turned. I just can't be convinced Spurs being so bad was strictly down to us...I hope it was, though. You could also be buoyed by the fact the core of that midfield had a week or less together. I just don't know, I'm confused...too many years of damage!

Sorted ;)

In that little compilation there was a moment where he gets fouled but instantly gets up and sprints off. He's got so many qualities that you could understand probably go unnoticed at Real Madrid but very much appreciated here!
I like how Jonathan Liew in the Guardian described that:
Rodríguez was saltily chopped down from behind by Ben Davies and yet somehow still managed to pick himself up with the ball still glued to his feet, before dribbling it past a baffled Davies.
Baffled!

The tactical discipline from Michael Keane is quite special.
Apart from that one long pass into the penalty box - overtaken by enthusiasm? lol
Just rewatched part of the game and that pass was fantastic. It's the one that led to DCL cutting it back to James who fluffed the shot.

to be fair would we rather Digne was pinging the crosses in or Seamus.. I think James has figured out the answer already.

Going forward we need a right back, Seamus is past his best and Kenny is a back up RB at best.

But surely Seamus isn't purely making the run to receive the ball. That overlapping run drags defenders away giving Rodriguez more space and time. I reckon its job well done for Seamus when that happens.
