2017/18 James McCarthy

I do believe he may have a future under Koeman but it will be fascinating to see how this plays out.

I think the squad named is a preliminary squad of 32 players and some will be dropped of that. It will be interesting to see if McCarthy is one of those that are left out, or if he travels to play and if he does how Koeman reacts.

I don't believe McCarthy will travel with or play for Ireland again until he has the blessing of Koeman....but, time will tell us if I am right.

He has not played all season so I guess the club can declare him unfit if they wish.

I thought Koeman liked him, the way he was talking in Summer and a bit before that. Seemed to be a 'productive' aggressive player 'that we like' but 'OK he's injured'

Or he's getting fit just now and Ireland prematurely called him up, despite him not being 100%?

I mean the Ireland game isn't TODAY like... and Koeman did say that he's really close to full recovery.

The exact same situation has happened about 5 times in the last 18 months. If he's genuinely not fit he could always withdraw.

I know, but I still feel this is a bit of an overreaction of sorts.

Maybe they're gonna be sensible this time...

I just think it's over for him at Everton to be honest mate, and they all know it. And that's absolutely fine because he'd add zero to our team anyway.

So he was not born in Ireland, has never lived in Ireland. His parents are from Scotland and have never lived in Ireland it but he claims to be Irish.

He is Scottish. The grandparents rule needs to be abolished.
Yeah him and tons of other international players for various teams as well as Ireland.

For example;

I've never seen you have a go at Pat Van Den Hauwe for playing for Wales. Mate it's getting tedious now, let it go please.
