Player Valuation: £80m
He was very good vs Spurs.
Wasn't great at WBA, but wasn't exactly awful. He got taken off cos we needed another forward on though and we changed systems.
okey dokey, maybe a good option for that then

I think the player fancied a move himself and Newcastle wanted him
Koeman's stance and words on him are quite interesting - he is the player that Martinez had signed (along with Maybe Lennon) who, before the season started, I thought might best suit the high energy approach Koeman wanted - now that he's fit I can understand Koeman thinking he might be worth having around (if indeed his words are to be believed). Personally, given he has competition from Schneiderlin, Gana and Davies along with Barry and, to a lesser extent, Besic, I think McCarthy will be gone in the summer anyway

As in understood it he has not agitated for a move, do you know different friend? Pleased he's staying but he will have to show some form if Ron is really going to keep his promise that he's part of the plan.
If he plays like he has lately? Why not a regular start...or should the manager cut his nose off to spite his face in order to placate those who want to see a good player moved on?How many starts do you think he will get in the last 16 games?

Agree mate. As we upgrade and get a better balance to our squad there are going to be casualties along the way.....he will still be in demand in the summer and the income from his transfer will help bring others in.

There's a difference between agitating and fancying a move
Not for a moment suggesting McCarthy was trying his best to get a transfer, but given Moshiri making a point about McCarthy at the end of the transfer window and Koeman talking about him at the end of this one, reasonable to assume there was interest in him at the end of both windows
Generally speaking, teams don't move for players unless they are given encouragement that they would be open to a move there
No inside info, but I suspect McCarthy, given he is now a squad member rather than nailed on first XI player, has been quite open to the idea of a move for a while

one of your biggest complaints has been the money lashed on snides. I thought you would have been made up if we got our money back on a player who's stank the place out for much of the last two years? If he plays like he has lately?
