If he reamins fit and gets some games and returns to first season form he will add big competition to our squad. Koeman wants us to play a pressing game so thats 2 used wuth 1 syb used every match. So with barry nearly finished that leaves snides gana davis and mccarthy besic . Say on average 1 injury thats 4 badly needed especially if we get europa football next season. This team will be judged next season by the strenght of bench.

But okay

Why? What need do we have to disrupt the midfield that's been playing so well? If Barry is to sit out, Schneiderlin or Gueye will come in.

I would start Schneiderlin & McCarthy with Barkley tonight FWIW. I understand what you are saying about not changing a winning team, but think tonight is going to be a battle and being able to rotate our Centre Mids should be utilised as it’s the strongest point of our team. Think Schneiderlin adds a physical presence whilst McCarthy should keep their flair players quiet.

Could be.

We'll see.

I think we will probably see a midfield of : Schneiderlin, Davies, McCarthy, Barkley ahead of the usual back five. Lukaku playing up front.

It may be Mirallas for McCarthy but I think he may opt for a very compact midfield and let the full backs attack more.

I think we need to get away from the idea of the same eleven playing every week. I think we will see more rotation in the team going forward.

The last month has shown us why we didn't see more rotation before this... he didn't rate the players.

Wouldn't be surprised if McCarthy is the one who covers either wingback position if Baines/Coleman gets injured.

Think he'd be handy there.

How longs McCarthy been in such good form that he should now be starting for then mate?

Another Dave moving the goalposts depending if they suit his argument thing I guess.
We'll let the manager you have such admiration for sort that out. I dont think he'll be too hesitant to put him in given the performances he's shown himself capable of. No doubt he'll be playing a man he paid for to the tune of an eye-watering £27M take one of those places initially. Let's see how that goes.

Dave your sounding like a loon now, schneiderlin didn't cost 27m.

Continue to be ultra negative though lad, it obviously does something for you.

£22m*

And you've completely dodged the posters point. You are saying McCarthy turning in 1.5 good performances, 6 weeks ago, is significant good form, whilst saying the entire team being in form over 7 or 8 games isn't significant at all.
