I agree that's what he's doing, and yes it's a good part of his job, but you can see from Osman's heat map that Coleman is obviously managing defending as well as getting forward (or Osman is useless at covering in the same way)Not sure if serious, but just in case... He's covering the attacking full-backs to avoid being caught on the counter. That's pretty much his primary job in that role. He had to do it even more today as he didn't have Barry next to him, so his game was 5-10 yards deeper.

I think my point was more that there were essentially two left back playing so i'd assume it would be defensively quite tight down that side, more so that having just one.

Good God, Naismith's heat map. It looks like he was injured and lay on the ground in the same spot...maybe rolling over a few yards sideways and forwards to attract attention.
