I thought he was pretty tidy last night.
I have a feeling its those that were very vcal in not wanting him, so wanted even the slightest excuse to have a pop.

The signs aren't good, but the reality is that we remain in the top 4 mix. I mentioned ahead of the game that top4 would remain a possibility regardless of the result and mention our win there in '86 when we went streets ahead of them and still lost the lead. Saying that, the manner of this defeat makes top4 and unlikely scenario but you never know.
Don't see why he's being highlighted. He never stopped running and made a fair few good interceptions, and generally pressed well. It's impossible for a player like McCarthy to look good after the team lose 4-0, unlike say Mirallas, who is the only player receiving any praise after last night -- because his contributions are offensive and are mostly solo affairs. McCarthy's a key cog in the team, but all the other cogs stopped turning.
Jagielka, Alcaraz and Pienaar were the worst players. Pienaar was atrocious, although quite possibly not fit. Jags shot us in the foot in the second half when we'd started a lot better. Alcaraz, well I felt sorry for him, the high line was suicide and no matter how good you are if you're slow, you're slow.
Anyway, point is, McCarthy was one of our less awful players and anyone singling him out was probably not a fan of his before last night.
