Everton midfielder James McCarthy has been ruled out of the Republic of Ireland's four upcoming friendlies because of an ankle injury.

Didn't he get a knock a few games from the end of season hence the reason he was on the bench vs palace? sounds like he's just not getting risked in meaningless friendlies by O'Neill, good management really
