I have yet to give Roberto any grief but a trait I have always disliked in a manager is one who continuously goes back to players they have previously worked with, its just always struck me that when they do it reflects poorly on there knowledge of the game and players from different clubs or leagues.

There is still nothing to give out about, as nothing is done or finished til the window shuts, still time to get someone in from nowhere that will excite us, like the Deulofeu signing did.

Widely reported as 20% mon frere. One thing that the media seem to be unanimous about.

Buy for £15m, sell for £25m = profit of £10m. 20% of £10m is £2m. Unless you're Harry Redknapp.
Widely reported in the media his fee with add ons was £17.5 million.
Ok with you Barry Fry ?

This is all so predictable. Everyone was saying Felli goes McCarthy in weeks ago. Its just a shame Everton couldn't see past this kid.

Saved me typing it mate, Dave's posting some stinkers tonight like

The problem is, he went all-in on his excitement of Moyes leaving and Martinez coming in - fair enough, winds of change and all that.

Then we signed Alcaraz. Ok, no harm done, experienced CH, back up, effectively free (signing on bonus), all fine.

Then we brought Robles, ok, young goalkeeper, played in FA cup final, pushes Howard, ok, he's 2013 Wigan again but by the by.

Next, its Kone, for 5m - 6.5m. 11 league goals last season, very ropey form previous to this including a 1 in 40 for Sevilla. Also of relegated Wigan. .... right.... er.... better than Anichebe / Jelavic I suppose..... Martinez knows him... er... PL experience... 6m not too much I guess.... er, ok, thats 3 from Wigan now, well, starting to get a bit excessive an' that...

Deulofeu comes in - OK NOW WE ARE TALKING - GLOBAL MARKET - YOUNG PLAYER - BOSS ON YOUTUBE - BIG BARCA BUYOUT CLAUSE good, big big plus for Martinez. we like.

Entire backroom staff from Wigan comes in..... er... ok.... people he trusts.... helps influence systems.... good for players.... Wigan facilities crap anyway... er....

July and August float buy.... reasonable pre-season, good result against Juventus, creditable performances against Real and Valencia.... Ok we were bad against Betis but still won! that's a good sign!

Season starts - 2-2 at Norwich, line up in Moyes formation with all-Moyes team - Brings on Naismith for Mirrallas in Moyes-esque sub.... well, look at Barkley, given a chance,,, thats good.... didnt lose at least.... great

0-0 with West Brom... er.... parked the bus.... bit unlucky.... probs should have penalty.... atmosphere at ground bad

1-1 with Stevenage at 90 mins..... poor performance.... no tempo.... er..... lots of changes, unlucky... shots.... er....

0-0 at Cardiff ..... ok... tough place to go.... just beat City... er.... Jelavic is Moyes' fault.... er.....

McCarthy bid for 10m according to Wigan chairman..... er..... 'they look like sideways passes but actually he's giving it to wingers quickly''... er.... ok that would be 4 2013 era Wigan players now + entire backroom staff... but... er.... it's ok... Oh and we will lose a Belgian international midfielder... er.....

I dont mind McCarthy and being Irish certainly like the idea of Gibson/McCarthy in midfield but I really dont think he's worth £10mil nor do I think he's fit to lace Fellaini's boots. I'll be happier if no deals go through than if this does

He's saying nobody knew Felli was any good when we bought him, Lads on here wrote him off very early into his career

McCarthy being relegated means what? Can one player save a team?

How about four? Could we say that Kone, Alcaraz, Robles and McCarthy were all powerless as Wigan went down?

If we sign McCarthy I really hope for the boy that some of the people on here will throw their support behind him otherwise he will be judged, sentenced and executed before Christmas

...I think you just made my case for me mate with all that. A very reasoned and reasonable approximation at the unfolding saga since June.
