Someone asked if Garner was the best player we've signed from Man Utd since Kanchelskis and Blomqvist was a silly suggestion as the best player from Man Utd insteadno i don’t get what’s that to do with garner?
He made such a good impression that I forgot my Jespers...Jesper Blomqvist![]()
I must be as drunk as Gibbo, getting my Jespers mixed upNot Da'ron Gibson, famous enemy of cyclists and AA meetings?
And more often than not he is off it.Everton play at their best when he’s on it. Felt like he was missing for most of the game. Really started putting himself about and running the middle. Will be interesting to see how he continues his recent form with the return of Gana and KDH.
Always gets pushed out of his position when Guaye starts somehow ?Anonymous tonight unfortunately
I think this is the biggest thing for me.Always gets pushed out of his position when Guaye starts somehow ?
Right he crossed the ball hit the bar - Garna, but the rest of his play was poor passed it to the hoardings twice - we had a good chance of a breakaway in the first half a yard to slow - he adds no balance to our midfield in fact I feel he unbalances it too much ....I think this is the biggest thing for me.
Gana having a stinker means our other CM is essentially alone so whatever role they are given is pointless. Whether it's Garner, Tim or Armstrong the result is the same - their levels drop
You say that as if we’ve been brilliant in all our other home games though? If it was ‘all caused by gueye coming in’ you’d have to wonder why we’ve been crap at home against Newcastle, Arsenal, Brentford, wolves, and Sunderland when he wasn’t playing really wouldn’t you? Garner has made good strides this season and has arguably been our player of the season so far but his best midfield performances have still come away when we’ve been very tight and compact, allowing the opposition most of the ball. He’s still struggled to impose himself on games where more is expected and you’re looking for him to actually dictate the game. It’s not always someone else’s fault. For that 2nd half he was almost playing on the left touchline, in no man's land with Mykolenko 2 yards behind him, Gueye looking goosed in the middle.
An absolute mess tonight and all caused by Gueye coming in and everyone else then all night playing in unfamiliar positions and chopping and changing.
He was definitely not. If you want to judge purely by assists then yes. But there were multiple times they were starting to break, and he single handedly took it on himself to sprint half the field and break up the play. His judgement if when a break is dangerous, and effort, is the opposite of McNeils and is underrated.Anonymous tonight unfortunately
