a bone injury should be fine to 100% fully recover from. Many ligament/tendon injuries are 100% mendable these days. Muscle injuries, especially to big muscle groups (quads/hammies) are a different kettle of badgers, scar tissue and muscle shortening can limit recovery. Jack will be fine. JB is a bigger concern if his two hammy injuries are linked

Problem with Grealish is that I already think he struggles physically and this time out won't have helped him. If there was a deal to be done then I'd happily take him but I can't see there being a huge list of suitors if we walk away.

Seems like a top guy who has really bought into the club but the cost of buying him when considering his age and fitness means it's a no for me. If we were competing for trophies this type of older player makes sense. When we're competing to qualify for a lesser European tournament with lesser financial rewards, I'm not sure it does.

It’s all very re-signing Rooney-ish. He’s been on the wane for two years and his quality is about to drop off a cliff.

I don’t think Rooneys quality ever dropped, never mind fell off a cliff. Just he couldn’t get about the pitch like he used to. Grealish is more about holding on to the ball in tight areas and a bit of skill to create a yard for himself - I don’t think he’s losing that anytime soon.

The ability to get around the pitch is imperative and forms part of the quality that is required to operate in the PL. Rooney's inability to do that saw him shipped off to the USA on his second free transfer in a row, and retired within 12 months of leaving Everton. A shadow of his former self.

Grealish used to do a tad more that hold onto the ball and create a yard for himself. That's not what City paid 100 million pound for. He is on the wane, no longer a consideration for international football, and there isn't a queue of suitors vying for his signature. He isn't even the best left midfielder at Everton, and he isn't going to get better.

You expect us to have a player worth £100 million in the team?

Is he as good as he was/could have been? No.

Is he more than good enough for a middling Prem team that currently has Dwight McNeil in the team. Yes.

I'm not arguing against that if we are talking about May 2026 and his injury hasn't exacerbated his decline. But he is on the decline, and a middling Prem team that currently has Dwight McNeil in the team is his level nowadays, and the concern is that his ability is only going one way, and sooner than many think imho.

And then there's the cost. I don't think he's a wise investment.
