2025/26 Jack Grealish

I get it, but we've been so burned by football finances that it's hard not to look at things that way nowadays

That said, there is still room for signings like Grealish if it's accompanied by other signings which are going to tick more boxes around resale etc (and TBF, we largely followed that model last summer).

For some it may be hard, but I find it really easy because I have never been truly interested in that side of football. As you said, over the past few years you get a bit drawn in to it, relative to that interest.

I suppose I just find it odd that finances would be the first thing that someone would go to, over footballing talent.

As you sad, clubs do generally need to find the balance, as there is always room for footballers that fit for footballing reasons.

If we do sign him I'd like to see how he does in the 10 role. Garner and KDH in the middle, Ndiaye, Grealish and a good winger with a new striker up top.. That's a very good team.

He doesn't lose the ball, stick him in the 10 and we then have players bombing past him and he'll find them.

….really don’t understand these shouts. Sure, he gives the quality in possession but the role requires so much more these days.

Doucoure had the amazing physicality but not the quality to play it, KDH has come in and matched the physicality but vastly improved quality. No way can Grealish cope with the requirements of that position. Football isn’t only about what players do with the ball, it’s about what they do when they don’t have possession.

I think it's because he played there briefly when he was about 18, for some reason people think that's his regular position

Anyway, sign him up. I haven't loved a player this much since John Ebbrell and Peter Degn

Not sure where me saying I'd like to see him in the 10 role implies I think he's played there regularly. We've had 4 centre backs playing in defence at times and you two ladies are offended at the thought of Grealish playing 10..

Not sure why you've taken this so personally, there are plenty of other people saying the same. I haven't even seen you mention it tbh.

But thank you for recognising my correct gender!

Tbf James did alright there while hardly breaking into a sprint.

Moyes might demand his 10 covers x amount of ground per 90, but it's not the only way to view that position. Can think of some great 10's in the league atm who you wouldn't really associate at all with what they do off the ball. I dont really buy into the idea that this is now almost primarily a defensive pressing role.

Also, Grealish does actually work very hard on the wing, never really neglects his defensive duties and gets up and down the pitch as he needs to. Not sure why that would be different if he was moved into the middle.

Think would be a great move if can get him on loan again would have questions on the club if was soending 50 mill om him. Then still feel we need to be looking at bringing in another winger who is more direct and has pace to give us a diffetent profile
