2025/26 Jack Grealish

He was an absolute joy to watch early in the season, I'm glad our younger fans are getting to see players like him and Ndaiye wearing blue after some of the dross we've had playing for us in recent years. Think he might have been carrying the injury for a lot longer than he's let on though, seemed reluctant to let fly for quite some time before his spell out.

It's a no brainer to bring him back for another season at least, what he brings to the team and club adds value everywhere, and when such a well known and well liked player is regularly singing the praises of the manager it can only help us attract more good players.

and yet some still say no!!!

Some seem to talk like we're still working on Moshiri's level of budget after the plug was pulled on the Usmanov money, and PSR hit hard. I think Grealish as the first big signing of the summer would be a big statement of intent from TFG and if a few more strong signings in the positions we're weak in might put people's minds at rest a bit.

His rebranding as a proper blue has been a joy to watch, his positive spin on appearances amongst the ETIC is something I’ve enjoyed. I hope we see him again next season. He’s an excellent athlete and footballer, I hope young Tyler can learn from him whilst he’s here.

In addition to his obvious on-field qualities, Jack seems to be what you’d call a genuinely good guy and a straight-up, honest bloke. The positive impact that has on team spirit shouldn’t be underestimated. He also does a great job of acknowledging the fans and others around him.

And the fact that he may have enjoyed a drink now and then is, in the end, more of a plus than a minus.

Its been done time and time again , we were flying under Carlo until injuries and suspensions at the very end of the season.
But a good blue would know this.

And yet you would turn your back on the most decorated manager in hisory.

You stick to your Raffa love in .
Not decorated with us. Give me Kendall, Catterick first. Moyes and Gordon Lee got us further. Post Moores we have not had great owners and Ancelloti proved he was no better than many with a thin squad and lack of talent. Despite the amazing columbian. He occupied the treatment table like a true star.

With fans but not athletes

Too much finance talk with EVERYTHING football these days, everyone obsessed with numbers and costs, the way its all gone I know.

Take all of that away, and surely nobody says now to such a good footballer, and I really like good footballers to play for my team.
Agreed. He improves us and takes the focus away from other threats on the pitch (Ndiaye).

Sign him.

He demands 2 players to go close him down and it's no wonder that he forged a good partnership with KDH because of that.
What we need, if we have 2 wingers who can take players on, is a midfield that can get the ball from one wing to the other in as little time as possible.
James managed it with a single pass, he was that good, but failing that the 2-3 midfielders need to combine to pull teams about faster/move the ball quicker.
A 2 year deal with club option of a third year on say max 150k a week, and 15-20 mill buying fee, is a decent option in my opinion.

100% agree with this.

When people start chatting about resale values, they would only want to sign a player if the deal was right. You read on here, that they would only approve of a signing if it is x amount up front, with so and so add ons of x amount. It gets ridiculous at times.

As a fan, you obviously hope that the finances are right, but truly as a fan of watching football I also don't really care to delve into all of that stuff. If a footballer is good then I want to watch them play for Everton.

I get it, but we've been so burned by football finances that it's hard not to look at things that way nowadays

That said, there is still room for signings like Grealish if it's accompanied by other signings which are going to tick more boxes around resale etc (and TBF, we largely followed that model last summer).
