2025/26 Jack Grealish

August seems a very long time ago now.

Was looking for him to step up tonight without Ndiaye and KDH but was on the periphery of the game. Going to need far better from him in the next four otherwise there might be some embarrassing results.

It was logical for club to get him on a year's loan with all the hype and feelgood factor he brings and where the club has been last four seasons.

However it is completely different scenario to commit to a four year deal on 200k + wages for someone who'll be 31 next season. Interested what the club does but I'd be tempted to let him go back to Man. City.

Logic would be to sign a new LB in the window and see how they link up for 15 games.
Unless we can adequately plug the gaping holes in other areas of the pitch, I doubt we'll be bringing him in permanently on current form and output. In principle, I'd sign him - but not at any price and not at the cost of competent squad building, which is something we really didn't manage over the summer.

Stick the armband on him for a game, tell him we want atleast 40% of his play to be one touch passes.

run from deeper, rather than than the 10yard box "Pep" stuck him in..

See if that wakes up the old Jack.

( still need the players around him for to work tho )

Ok for this season but I hope we can upgrade for next season. Barry is struggling but he gets no centres, no through balls from Jack. It's getting clear as to why Pep released him.

Been made to look poor by having poor players around him. Three times he ran at them and had to check cos no support

This.

He`s got Mkylenko behind him and Barry or Beto in front of him, who provide no attacking threat whatsoever, plus there`s now no KDH who is the only player apart from Illy that`s on his wavelength.

I think we need to talk about Grealish. Imo he’s been our poorest player bar none for the last five games. Now maybe he is tired or maybe he is carrying an injury, in which case let’s leave him out, but last night it was noticeable that we were actually choosing to move the ball to the right rather than down the left. He made no successful dribbles, more than a third of his passes didn’t reach their target, he attempted four long balls and was inaccurate with every one and he was one of only two starters who didn’t win a single tackle. He ought to be called Handbrake Jack at the moment, bringing every move to a halt.

We need to stop thinking we’re lucky to have him. He’s very lucky to be playing for us, getting the fantastic support and wages he is and needs to start producing again rapidly. Burnley is a very very big game for us and him in particular and I really hope he can climb back up the cliff he’s fallen off. We need him to.

Having Grealish at LW & KDH at 10 really slows our attacks down and we look like a posession focused side - we should be a direct quick team.

When we use KDH as an 8 he looks far better.

At this point I think Grealish has to be tried as a 10 because we wont win premier league games slowing the play down. Nor will we win games giving him the ball when hes got 2 or 3 players on him.

I'd say Ndiaye is a better LW and would rather see him there next season + Dibling at RW. Use the Grealish savings and McNeil sale to sign a quick L/R winger like Fofana to push Ndiaye & Dibling.

Would like to see him in the number 10 role. Think he would offer so much more at this moment in time than out wide.

I think he should have been moved there since October. Grealish is a top player but hes not Villa Grealish.

The boy can pass a football and i think he'd do well at 10 and perhaps even in his 30s he could drop into a deep playmaking role.

However, the key point is that something needs to change and Moyes seems to feel hes the golden boy.

First half a dozen games he was great. Since then hes actually not done much for about a dozen games.

Not sure if its the England snubs or injury. Or even teams just knowing his game and putting 2 men on him.

Gets the ball recently and simply kicks it out for a goal kick after overhitting passes.

McNeil or Alcaraz do similar and Moyes goes mental but with "Jack" nothing.
