British citizen missing in Israel after attending music festival

A British citizen, who was attending a music festival in southern Israel near Gaza, is missing, according to Israel’s embassy in the United Kingdom.

Jake Marlowe, 26, went missing early on Saturday, the embassy said.

His mother, Lisa, told the Jewish News he was providing security at a party and she last heard from her son via text message.

“He was doing security at this rave and called me at 04:30 to say all these rockets were flying over,” she said. “Then, at about 05:30, he texted to say, ‘signal very bad, everything OK, will keep you updated I promise you’, and that he loves me.”

What I do know is since Biden has been 'the leader of the free world', two conflicts that have been on the verge of happening for years have escalated to stuff that didn't seem possible before.

There has to be agreement at the imminent Security Council (edit) meeting that the status quo cannot continue, that the world isn’t going to allow another massacre to take place in Gaza, and that the Palestinians have been denied a viable state for too long.

It shouldn’t be hard to get that agreement; everyone has the two state solution as policy.

Do Gaza residents support Hamas’s tactics?

Tamer Qarmout, head of the public administration programme at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, says that while Hamas is popular in Gaza, it is unclear if all Palestinians in the enclave support its tactics.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, he said this is because there have been no elections in the region and the democratic will of the people is unknown.

“In Israel, it is a democratic government and things are clear, we know what the Israeli people want. But the Palestinian society in Gaza and the occupied West Bank is fragmented,” he said.

“The Palestinian split is designed by Israel and the international community. Of course, the Palestinians are responsible as well. But the de facto player is Israel which controls Palestinian politics. Hamas also functions under Israel’s instructions,” Qarmout explained.

“So Palestinians have no say on even sitting and trying to create a neutral platform to have a political dialogue amongst themselves,” he added.

No democracy for the Palestinians and the aggressive settler community attacking the Palestinian populations then hiding behind the IDF.

Palestinians cannot go from village/Town without permission from Israel.

Cannot get building permits in any Israeli controlled lands including Jerusalem

Cannot leave the country without Israeli permission

Cannot marry who they like without Israeli interference

Cannot use roads to get to schools or hospitals without harassment from IDF checkpoints

Houses destroyed at will without legal recourse

Live under harsh military rule whilst illegal settlers live under civilian rule.

These points are the very definition of apartheid, now not condoning what’s happened with hamas but no one can say it wasn’t coming.

What annoys me is the western media and government bias which is willing to turn a blind eye to Israeli aggressions but condemn all of the Palestinians aggression.
