Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed militant group, is classified as a terrorist organization. Similar to Hamas, Hezbollah has repeatedly expressed genocidal intentions to destroy Israel and has actively sought to carry out these threats.

On October 8th, Hezbollah joined Hamas in the conflict by launching rocket attacks on Israel, firing over 8,500 rockets since then. This has resulted in the displacement of more than 80,000 Israelis from northern Israel.

Items like pagers and walkie-talkies, used exclusively by Hezbollah fighters or members, qualify as military objectives, making their destruction and the targeting of those using them lawful under the rules of armed conflict.

These strikes are specifically directed at Hezbollah militants and their equipment.

No, they are 'specifically' directed at anyone who is unfortunate to be in the vicinity. It is ANOTHER war crime

Again, the terrorists are ISRAEL

THEY BLEW UP A TEN YEAR OLD GIRL YOU ‘KIN MONSTER. LOADS OF THE VIDEOS ARE OF THEM EXPLODING IN SHOPS AND SUPERMARKETS.

I hate you genocide defenders so much, you are all such monstrous inhuman scumbags, I swear to god

What if those cops or soldiers are walking around their local shop or in the pub etc. There was no way of only targeting the owner of the pager. It's about as discriminate as putting a device under someone's family car.

The important point is that they are only targeting the owner of the pager (or radio) - they are issued by Hezbollah to Hezbollah members; they are Hezbollah devices. In terms of international legality they are on much safer ground using Hezbollah property to carry out these attacks than they are lobbing dumb bombs and 155mm shells into Gaza.

It might still be illegal mind, but a better argument can be made for doing it this way.

Its not all been one way traffic, but I will be glad if the missiles stop firing towards Northern Israel. A friend of mine is one of the displaced. I have seen her videos of the missiles at night on Facebook. It looks bloody terrifying. Hezbollah and Israel need to chill the fxk out in regard to each other.

I doubt this will be the long term effect of this reckless move by Israel, however, and I think they intend to escalate further. I fear for the entire region.

Think you have to look at the bigger picture here.

Is this simply a case of Israel targeting Hez operatives, or is it a precursor to something bigger?

So far in two days Israel has effectively destroyed the Hez communications network.

1. They can’t use mobile phones as they can be easily tracked and calls intercepted.

2. They darent use pagers anymore

3. They daren’t use radios anymore

Phone lines are tapped as well and therefore their entire comms network is down.

Israel now has a serious advantage and I sense that’ll they will exploit it. You wouldn’t go to this much trouble just to blow the bollocks of a few Hez types.

Yep.

Their lobby in this country is enormously powerful. For the vast majority of the public to see through that is very encouraging.

The rogue state should be boycotted by everyone critical of it.

TBF dave when you look at even something like yougov it is remarkable how little public support there is for the regime; the highest sympathy for Israel (vs sympathy for the Palestinians, don't know and equal sympathy) is 19%:

As you say though, the lobby is very powerful and its mostly aimed at the top

It should be 100% sympathy for the Palestinians.

No idea who might support the actions of Israel at this moment in time.

Getting pagers to kill and maim kids is just about the most despicable stuff you can think of.

An utterly awful apartheid fascist mess of a country.

100% that is how this was intended to be used, but whether Netanyahu is capable of following this up is another matter entirely.

One of the really interesting things that might come when the dust settles is the story of the internal conflict within Zionists over this, on the one hand the Israeli military and intelligence establishments (who are generally capable and have previous for attacks of this kind) and the majority of the politicians (who are quite obviously not capable of anything other than embarrasing and outraging).
