Look up the population stats for the area that is now Israel and Palestine over the past 1000 years and note the exponential increase since 1940.

No one would begrudge a safe homeland for persecuted Jews but that should not mean they had the right to force Palestinian people from lands that they had worked and lived on for centuries.

I have said before Netanyahu is not Israel or the whole Jewish people. Hamas is not the whole Palestinian people.

The IRA/INLA were not Ireland or the Irish people.

This Israeli PM and his hawks in the regime are genocidal criminals. They do not represent every Israeli or Jew although their virulent propaganda has blinded many otherwise reasonable Israeli citizens.....but not all of them.

Basically this. In my opinion it's good old fashioned colonialism that you could get away with 100 years ago when Britain, France, etc were still at it, exploiting & deligitimising indigenous populations around the globe. In fact some of the early Zionists like Jobotinski were quite open about this...

I have a few others on ignore mostly those who said some disgusting things about Coleman.

Corky is alright if he sticks to Cork City FC in the LOI and Cork GAA. His views on rangers and Israel are eccentric but so far not sufficiently abusive to warrant the ignore sanction.

Good news mate, but we already knew they were breaking international law (repeatedly and with impunity). What worries me is the backlash from this result, I fear more immediate settler violence. Ben Gvir and Smotrich have already been piping up about annexing the entire West Bank, pair of absolute sh*houses.
 
Its almost astounding how different are comments in forums like this vs comments sections in mainstream media (or social media).
Looking at comments sections of major English speaking sites or my own county (also German ones) huge majority are in Israel favor, pretty similar in real life.

Anti-Muslim racism/bigotry and "Israelis looking like us" main factors i would say. Just seeing how muslim migrants (or Filipino and Nepali foreign workers) are seen and treated here in my country tells me enough why is such mainstream support of Israel. Plain old racism and demonization of people from those areas (every Muslim is terrorist scaremongering).

TBF I think its ignorance more than anything; people just don't know what life is like for the bulk of Palestinians.

I would rather say most comments and mainstream sentiment is "they deserved it" and not just ignorance.
Didn't reporter on some major news portal (think it was BBC) openly said on air that we should feel sympathetic toward Ukrainians cause "they look like us" and got "blonde hair and blue eyes" and this war is in civilized Europe and not some Middle Eastern (shithole).

That sentiment exist very much toward Middle East and Muslims and is only lightly hidden behind the surface.

Indeed, but that is ignorance in itself - there are loads of "white" / European looking Palestinians (Ahed Tamimi for example) and there are sizeable Christian (Orthodox, Catholic and Anglican) communities in the WB and Gaza. There are loads of direct links on subjects that we (in the UK) could deeply appreciate too, such as the way that Palestinians have kept up the two Commonwealth War Grave sites in Gaza for more than a century now, despite Israel bombing/shelling them and blockading supplies.

People don't know this though, because they aren't told.

There are only about 1000 Christians left in Gaza. They're a tiny minority.

Christian families tended to be financially better off and many have left.
