Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

Meanwhile, in Israel itself:

“You work eight or nine years, saving money to build a house, and then they destroy it,” Yousef Abu Issa, a 35-year-old resident, told +972 and Local Call. “They don’t give you another place to live, they don’t help you.”

As a precautionary measure Yousef had taken his children out of the village before the demolitions began. He was sitting in his car when I spoke with him, watching the police raze the buildings while smoke engulfed some of the houses that residents themselves had set on fire before the authorities could demolish them.

“Look how many police officers are here,” he said. “Where were they on October 7? A force like this could conquer Lebanon. I feel no differently toward them than I do toward the terrorists of the Nukhba [Hamas’ elite commando unit]. I’m an Israeli citizen, loyal to the state, I do national service — and this is what happens.”

Outside agitation at protests latest:

Genuinely can't believe we're still reading things like this... nations still more or less encouraging Israel not to break international law and asking them please don't continue your genocide (but if you do we'll continue to support you):

Western nations urge Israel to comply with international law in Gaza

Israel must comply with international law in Gaza and address the devastating humanitarian crisis there, a group of western nations wrote in a letter to the Israeli government seen by Reuters on Friday.

All countries belonging to the G7, apart from the US, signed the letter, along with Australia, South Korea, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.

It is astonishing. The grovelling apologies from these governments when the truths come out will be quite something

They'll hide behind the principle of sovereignty, and claim they cannot force another nation to comply with international law. That does run smack into all of the times Western nations have deployed troops to force compliance with something (not necessarily international law).

Then again, someone circa Kennedy/Johnson had the bright idea to give the Israelis nukes, and to date no one has been brazen enough to invade a nuclear weapons state.
