Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

See my post above

I normally say 70 years but, The last twenty years is very one sided until October 7th - it just makes it easier for people to grasp the magnitude of Israel’s behaviour
Without in any way excusing Israel's actions, it should be acknowledged that there have been many attacks by Hamas and other Palestinian groups on Israeli civilians during they years you mentioned - the 1972 Munich massacre of Israeli Olympians being just one example. I'm sure people who have followed the situation there more closely could point out many more instances.

I repeat, I say this not to justify Israel's actions, merely to point out that the violence is not one sided; both sides should seek a peaceful solution.

100% and I hold my hand up to conveniently ignoring many of the Palestinian attacks on their occupiers. The reason being is that, they are simply their occupiers.

The level s of violence LONG BEFORE Oct 7th

As for peaceful solution - it would involve a lot of forgiveness on behalf of the palestinians and a lot of reparations and land return from Israel....

I agree about the forgiveness, but what's the alternative? Total genocide of one side or the other?

It will be hard, but the ONLY way there'll be peace there is for both sides to forgive the unforgivable, bear the unbearable, endure the unendurable, and try to co-exist.

Sadly, it won't happen in my lifetime (if at all).

Honestly, I have been saying this for years. I just cannot see it. In order for there to be peace will require Palestine to be granted independent state status which will then give them access to the international courts - not a chance bibi allows that. It will also require return of lands, again, not a chance, self governance, open borders, control of water., electricity, internet etc, all things that Israel control - not a chance.

My only hope being that, after this genocide, they will actually be hauled infront of the hague (or whatever is correct) and forced, like Germany, to undo all their wrongs. It is the only positive from this continued assault - the world has woken up to the Israeli crimes

I see the US has come out tonight and said that famine is now present in the country their weapons are being used to destroy.

It's astonishing that they can spout all of their empty words of support, refuse to veto a call for a ceasefire yet continue to provide arms for Israel to commit genocide - staggering.

These are pivotal weeks. If they're enabling a real famine in Gaza, it will break their bond with the United states and the west.

I do increasingly wonder about the motivations of the Israeli regime in this conflict, there are a lot of things that really do not make much sense - the consistent escalation, the open insults to allies, the deliberate destruction of any diplomatic settlement and political support in the West.

Even basic political things, the most blatant of which is where at least one of Netanyahu’s sons are, make you wonder how on earth he’d even stand for election again never mind win. For a man who is allegedly so focused on his own political survival that he’s leaving Israeli women and girls as hostages (with all their propaganda suggests), this is a remarkable vulnerability in any kind of free and fair election.

Netanyahu is doing a lot of things that he knows will destroy a vital plank of security for him; that could mean he thinks he will be getting that security from someone else. Of course he had (before this kicked off) good relations with Putin and still has good relations with Orban, Millei, Bolsonaro etc.

He’s gone so, so rogue, you can only imagine he’s going for bust. Wipe out the Palestinians, and be seen (remembered) as the man that made Israel the single entity in the contested area. He’s really gone for it this time

Perhaps, though the only thing I'd say there is that for someone "going so, so rogue" he put a lot of work into setting things up for this beforehand - the legal changes, the division, the boostering of the extreme right, the interference in other countries politics, the deliberate fostering of Hamas, even the red heifers.

Even he can’t have envisaged starving them to death, could he?!?!
