if this is true isnt that insane. Has anyone wondered why peoples in the region dont like palestinians...effing strange
"Egypt is refusing to accept Palestinian refugees from Gaza. The country's prime minister stated clearly: "We are prepared to sacrifice millions of lives to ensure that no one encroaches upon our territory.”

"Hamas...right to defend....Hamas...eliminate....etc etc"
'After years of legal battles, Israel’s supreme court ruled last May in favour of the IDF that a 3,000-hectare (7,410-acre) area of Masafer Yatta would remain a military training zone, known as Firing Zone 918,

a ruling illegal under international law

and one of the single biggest expulsion decisions since the occupation began. Since then, the army and Israeli settlers have steadily increased the pressure to try to force the Palestinian community in the Firing Zone, as well as those living in dozens of nearby villages, to leave.'

From the Guardian article posted supra.

Even Israel 's Supreme Court gives international law the two fingers.

No hope of Palestinians getting any justice even of tgey try to go the legal route.

Yes let’s go back a thousand years, no that’s silly, maybe just a hundred then when none of us were alive, maybe 50 years when most on here weren‘t alive, or maybe 20, 10, 5.….up until 7th October there hadn’t been killing on this scale for a few years, so let’s not pretend that the Hamas atrocities played no part in what is now happening….

Pete

9 years ago - 2014.

Over 2000 Palestinians killed, 70% of whom were civilians.

I repeat, in 30 years of the tragic "Troubles" in Northern Ireland, 3,500 people lost their lives and we are still sore and sad for the loss, and for their families 25 years after the GFA.

Peace came because people sat down and tortuously worked out an Agreement.

Growing up, I never dreamed that I would see Paisley and McGuinness working together to jointly govern NI.

Violence on this scale against innocents as a response to a disgusting attack on October 7th is not justifiable.

Israel's war crimes against civilians and civilian targets cannot be excused by pointing to Oct 7th.

Somehow, some pprobably external and neutral agent or agents must try to bring the two sides to negotiations for settlement .

I n my opinion this will never happen while Netanyahu is there.

There are less extreme politicians in that cabinet and there is a will among ordinate Israelis to stop the slaughter. At the moment they cannot be heard above the din of the hawks and their horrendous military onslaught.

I keep praying mate.

No it’s a simple thing, when people start quoting what happened 50 years ago, I’d like to know if they actually watched or lived through it, as opposed to reading something in a book or magazine. I wouldn’t have dreamt of lecturing my parents on WW2 as they lived through it and I wasn’t born. Hence my question when someone goes on about 50 or 60 years ago…….
Pete,

I have relatives who fought in the Irish War of Independence 1916-22, in the Civil War 1922-23, and the First World war for the British against the Germans and her allies.

I have a keen interest in history, and I am 58.

Please tell me I m allowed to express an opinion about the past from before 1965.

Seems the UNSC still deliberating.

Excellent intervention by the UN High Commissioner on Refugees yesterday.

Get off the bloody fence UNSC !!!!

That's a cheap way of trying to shut down debate, my dude.

And that's why we're at where we're at. That the narrative counts suffering of Israelis only. If you keep flicking a dog on the nose at one point it's going to bite you.
For decades the Palestinians have been treated as 2nd class or less by the consecutive, and worsening, Israeli state (democratic) governments*
They have had every scrap of dignity removed as well as their homes, their culture and ultimately their hopes for themselves and their children. Constantly.
And while looking to the world for help, agencies like the UN have been ignored by western politicians and their aggressors funded by the very people from whom they seek help.
People haven't been protesting their support for the Palestinian cause for less than a month. They've been doing it as long as I've been aware, and I'm in the same age bracket as you.
So yes, let's go back, and measure in deaths how far we should go, which seems to be the method used by those who won't accept the suffering constantly for 70+ years of the Palestinians. We can highlight 'atrocities' if you like, but we will always reach that point that will show the Israeli state's end game is genocide and the eradication of the Palestinian peoples.

*the democratic element used to promote Israel as having values is the same argument used by the US & UK etc to justify using depleted uranium on the people of Iraq, or the flattening of Afghanistan or anywhere else western (economic) democracy has invaded.

It's a very complicated issue, quite a lot more to it than simply "They don't like Palestinians".

YOU don't like Palestinians. Stop projecting.

But they were happening on October the 6th not a thousand years ago , it has been an ongoing assault by Israel, it is not a past issue but a current one. Isrsel are to blame
Mad you cannot understand
