Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

Lots of people have criticized Hamas in here, Pete. You're just choosing not to see it.

I think most sensible posters in here will condemn their actions of firing rockets into civilian Israeli areas and acknowledge they are one of the obstacles to peace in the region.

Pure what-about-ism from you I'm afraid.
I'll be honest. I've seen very little evidence of Hamas rocket attacks, other than smallish scorch marks on concrete..

any chance of answering any of my questions then ?....
You are asking why Hamas fired rockets at Israel? And if they really care about the people of Gaza?

If they genuinely cared for the people of Gaza, they wouldn't be using them as human sheilds.

As for their motivations knowing there would be a retaliation? I would imagine the exact situation we are seeing right now with the world looking at and scrutinizing Israel's actions may be high on the list.

No. Certainly views are polarised. With regard to Hamas; I suppose when you have nothing, you have nothing to lose. The big question for me is; If there were no Palestinian terrorist /freedom fighter organisations at all what would Israel do differently?

Good question, I suppose it would take away any of their excuses for treating the Palestinians so badly. Reference to violence and terrorism, and take away any excuses for the USA or other supporters.....

There seems to be some very polarised and anti Israeli views in here. Yet almost none pointing a finger at Hamas, the group that actually kicked this off by the use of a large scale rocket attack. That the Israeli government have treated Palestinians dreadfully is a given, but the initiation of violence and rockets by Hamas was done in the full knowledge that Israel would respond in kind but with greater force. So, why did they do it ?, what did they expect to gain ?, what concern did they have for the people of Gaza ? Does anyone know......
Pete, see my post on the Palestinian elections thread yesterday as to Hamas's strategy leading up to the cancellation of the elections - pragmatic - and since - militaristic. Apologies for it being a bit of a long read!

Im sure i said this before...

@BigMick has written a very thorough and clear number of updates and views in another thread...

Very well reasoned compared to the clueless and uninformed sheep in this thread.

Best to steer clear of the insults. They diminish your arguments even further.

Thanks Mick, just caught up and read it....

Condemnation of antisemitism is a point scorer for right wing politicians, I doubt there is much genuine sincerity to the plight of any Jewish folk getting abused during all this

Two sets of peoples are being harmed by the actions of two sets of ‘leaders’....

Interesting post @BigMick. The bit about being humiliated over Jerusalem is thought provoking. Didn’t Trump’s son in law claim peace in the Middle East with his pro Israel chicanery. Seems like all he did was give Hamas another stick to beat the PA with.

Incorrect as im the one whose been insulted in this thread and called a racist.

Works both ways (unless youre woke of course)...
Not by me, and no, not woke. The right (Laurence Fox et al) claiming support of Palestinian rights is woke. Presumably because it’s all they’ve got in defence of their actions.

Nobody likes Hamas or what they are doing there Pete. They just don't see it as justification for bombing innocent people and children to smithereens and, since Israel hold every single card in the dispute, we lay the responsibility for those dead kids right at their feet. I know you don't like holding corrupt, right wing buffoons to account for anything, but these are the simple facts

Yet around 20% of Hamas rockets misfire and/or fall within Gaza.

Havent seen any posts about that...
