Yup. My worry as well. US has just deployed additional sqns of F15-E and A-10’s to its airbase in UAE.

2 carrier battle groups on task and Iran threatening all sorts.

Could go bendy very quickly
I’ve heard a rumour that one of the major shipments that have arrived from the US in recent days are GBU-28s and 37s - bunker busters.

Just before the ground invasion, it’s suggested they’ll attack the tunnel network hoping to bury as many of Hamas alive.

Zionist project

14. The Zionist project is a racist, aggressive, colonial and expansionist project based on seizing the properties of others; it is hostile to the Palestinian people and to their aspiration for freedom, liberation, return and self-determination. The Israeli entity is the plaything of the Zionist project and its base of aggression.
15. The Zionist project does not target the Palestinian people alone; it is the enemy of the Arab and Islamic Ummah posing a grave threat to its security and interests. It is also hostile to the Ummah’s aspirations for unity, renaissance and liberation and has been the major source of its troubles. The Zionist project also poses a danger to international security and peace and to mankind and its interests and stability.
Hamas affirms that its conflict is with the Zionist project not with the Jews because of their religion
16. Hamas affirms that its conflict is with the Zionist project not with the Jews because of their religion. Hamas does not wage a struggle against the Jews because they are Jewish but wages a struggle against the Zionists who occupy Palestine. Yet, it is the Zionists who constantly identify Judaism and the Jews with their own colonial project and illegal entity.
17. Hamas rejects the persecution of any human being or the undermining of his or her rights on nationalist, religious or sectarian grounds. Hamas is of the view that the Jewish problem, anti-Semitism and the persecution of the Jews are phenomena fundamentally linked to European history and not to the history of the Arabs and the Muslims or to their heritage. The Zionist movement, which was able with the help of Western powers to occupy Palestine, is the most dangerous form of settlement occupation which has already disappeared from much of the world and must disappear from Palestine.

The position toward Occupation and political solutions

18. The following are considered null and void: the Balfour Declaration, the British Mandate Document, the UN Palestine Partition Resolution, and whatever resolutions and measures that derive from them or are similar to them. The establishment of “Israel” is entirely illegal and contravenes the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and goes against their will and the will of the Ummah; it is also in violation of human rights that are guaranteed by international conventions, foremost among them is the right to self-determination.
19. There shall be no recognition of the legitimacy of the Zionist entity. Whatever has befallen the land of Palestine in terms of occupation, settlement building, judaisation or changes to its features or falsification of facts is illegitimate. Rights never lapse.

Most likely, the purpose of the show of force is to deter Hezbollah and Iran from entering the game. Doesn't mean it will work. Your guess is as good as mine as to whether or not we're in if they join the party.

Be a cracking way of drying up russian supplies though. Would mean Europe doubling down and backing Ukraine further.
It's one way. I doubt plunging us into a broader war in the Middle East would help Biden's re-election chances.

I think it’s as much about trying to calm the Israelis down for long enough that the siege conditions are lifted, and wiser councils prevail.

There is an almost total unity between the surrounding and regional states on this siege ending immediately and substantial talks starting shortly afterwards. The old days when the region could be bullied into tolerating this sort of thing are gone and are never coming back.

The original problem was that both the Palestinians and Israelis were immediately at each others throats, followed by other Arab states. Like it or not but Israel is in control of what is now Israel. That does not mean that they should treat Palestinians like dirt, but the existence of Palestinian terrorist groups and the various wars that Israel has faced has made them very defensive minded. Now when you have a group like Hamas who have a declared aim to wipe Israel and its Jewish population from the face of the earth you can perhaps understand why. Time is normally a great healer and former enemies, like Germany towards France and the U.K. or Japan and the USA, become friends, but while Hamas keeps throwing missiles over the border there is no likelihood of that every happening. The violence needs to stop. The people of Israel and Palestine need time to let the mental wounds heal. Extremists, terrorists and Iran have no intention of letting that happen. Hence as of today the only recourse is more violence. Even a UN peacekeeping force would be unable to stop this while Hamas exists as a terrorist group. If Hamas gave up the gun and worked for the benefit of Palestinians by negotiated settlement with Israel, things may improve. But while it is led by bloodthirsty old men it never will, and what we see now is the result…..
all that israel do is take take take there not interested in peace with palestine

I'm not sure what you're suggesting they'll do, given the disparity in capabilities. This isn't the time for nation-states to tick Israel off. The soft power resulting from unity might matter later at the bargaining table, but I don't think it much matters now.

I also don't see how all that hard power does Israel all that much good at the moment. They will use it, because that's what nation-states do after a sizable attack. It won't get them hostages, and levelling half of Gaza won't bring the dead back. It will just create the new problem of a million displaced people.
