Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

I understand that everyone is understandably disgusted at Hamas’ actions in Israel, and rightfully so.

Can’t we please try and distinguish Hamas from average Palestinians. It’s worth noting that the median age in Gaza is 18 (while the world’s average is 28) and children make up 47% of Gaza’s population (source below)

Again, so I do not get misconstrued, what Hamas did and have been doing, and Hamas as an organisation is monstrous. I firmly support the cause of Palestinian emancipation, but also condemn Hamas in the strongest terms - Can we please recognise that Hamas do not have a monopoly on violence against children in this conflict. The bombings Israel are conducting against Gaza currently are against a strip of land where 47% of the population are children.
This probably still makes you a supporter of Hamas in Zat's mind

This is insane, bombing a civilian boarder crossing to prevent civilians escaping a conflict zone is literally a war crime.

“What it seems to me is that the measures taken, including the bombing of the Rafah crossing, hints to an intention to really starve and kill the people who are innocent inside the Gaza Strip,” UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese told Al Jazeera

Fwiw I’d recommend Al Jazeera’s coverage on this for people who want the news, they tend to do a more reasonable job of reporting the facts in an unbiased manner than most western news networks

It's just a different bias. Keep in mind that they're an SOE of Qatar, in much the same way that the BBC answers to HRM's government for funding. There are limits to their editorial independence.

On the plus side, they are a testament to what funding can do for an outlet. They're often more on top of things than the Western for-profit outlets that have scaled their newsrooms and bureaus back over the years.

What I don't understand is the "unconditional support for Israel" that the US is throwing there. I get it, Israel has had massive atrocities being done as we speak. I just don't get how every other thing they've done in the recent days that might have been provoking to this point is being met with "unconditional support".

Shouldn't it literally just be a straightup ceasefire? Thousands of innocents are going to die for things they don't have any interest in making a stand on. The average human just wants to die in peace. They just want to go home, hang out with whatever/whomever and wake up the next morning. They don't want to get carpet bombed because some fuckwits decided to shoot up a festival.

I seriously just don't get how they don't see an eye for an eye isn't working for the last 80 years.
