It’s been like this for decades

TBF it hasn’t - the occupation has been going on for decades, but the regular interventions into Gaza are a relatively recent phenomenon, dating back to them pulling out of Gaza, Hamas winning power and Bibi becoming PM.

The chances are this latest set of rows will only result in hundreds more dead and Hamas getting more militarily capable just like the last three did.

This seems to be a popular take in the past few days with the type of people who have Winston Churchill as their profile pic on social media.

It's a thoroughly hollow sentiment though, as anyone one with half a brain can see it for what it is. A popular trick amongst the shock-jocks and edgelords. Feign support for LGBT crowd as an excuse to have a go at the Muslims.
Same tactic as feigning support for vulnerable children by shouting about Muslim grooming gangs (but completely ignoring the white paedo rings)

So why would I, a gay man, show support for the Palestinians given their record of human rights abuses against the LGBT community, you may ask?
Well listen up, because this is very important.

The reason I don't think the Palestinian treatment of LGBT people justifies dropping bombs onto women and children is because....

So let me just clarify this all for you and anyone else fond of edgy takes.

Criticising the actions of Israel does not make you an anti-Semite.
Supporting the people of Palestine does not mean you support Hamas.
Being outraged at the slaughter of women and children does not mean you are turning a blind eye to the plight of the LGBT community.

I honesty can’t see an end to this madness. It’s like a nightmarish roundabout that you can’t get off.

1. Smallish incident usually involving some holy site quickly escalates from stone throwing to live rounds being exchanged between Israelis and Palestinian Arabs.

2. Palestinian para-military organisations ie Hamas lob a few rockets into Israel from Gaza.

3. Israel responds with extreme force, effectively bombing the crap out of Gaza, destroying Hamas military infrastructure (tunnels, command structure, logistics and weapon caches).

4. Cease fire called by Hamas, talks take place and an uneasy truce comes into effect.

5. Hamas rebuilds tunnels, restocks arsenals and replaces commanders.

6. sometime later a small incident at a holy site quickly escalates and we go again.

Israel has to neutralise Hamas and those groups in Palaestine who want to eradicate them.

They then need to find a political solution which is going to cost them land and resources.

Thats the only way forward imo...but no doubt the Palestinian leadership will reject proposals.
