Is Premier League Boring?

I don't really know, I don't watch other games than Everton.
I watch a lot of non league football though which I've always liked (Bootle FC, Marine etc)

The first Merseyside derby was between Bootle and Everton (played at Marsh Lane, Bootle) before Liverpool were formed.
When the Footbal League was formed in 1892 only 1 team from each area was allowed and Bootle FC lost out to Everton.
Bootle FC then joined the Football Alliance. When the Football Alliance merged with the Football League Bootle FC became one of the founder members of Division 2 of The Football League. They hit financial problems not long after, the club was disbanded and their place in Division 2 of The Football League was given to.... Liverpool.

You can spend a few hundred quid to go and watch a game that your team doesn’t try to win and then you can’t celebrate the goal that your team flukes because you’re scared that some people on a trading estate in West Drayton might zoom in and say the ball might’ve gone out of play 2 minutes before.

Yes overall, the league has not been good this year generally and I think its a number of factors including the amount of European games now that are often taking precedent over PL games and also all the international friendly games and money grabs like a expqnded club world cup or friendly tournaments around the world. Its simply too much football as alot of players have pointed out and we see that with the injuries and how the clubs with bigger squads generally cope better. It's often clear around 8 clubs are prioritising those European games many game weeks now. Second there is Var which is a passion killer and largely backs up in the inbuilt bias towards certain clubs. This is also aided by the likes of Sky and TNT who love the Sky/glamour clubs, even the likes or Spurs who haven't won anything of note for decades yet are some how seen as an elite club because they have a big ground and are based in London and had a few good years in recent memory. They present everything through the lens of those clubs.

Also coaching has become largely one dimensional all following this Pep light style where defenders and goalkeepers have more touches than midfielders or attackers And it is often passing for the sake of it, Pep's City at their height were a great team but now most teams follow that style but are not as good and it's boring.

Finally PSR has reinforced the gaps in the league and the gap between the Championship and the bottom of the league, and even if a Forest say have a great season as they are this season and they buck the trend with their fast counter attacking style, it keeps the bias toeards certain teams eventually as they likely won't be able to maintain it next season because of their turnover/will have to sell some of their better players. With potential super leagues and games abroad mooted, If football is not careful its going to lose the next generation of younger fans some of whom seem more keen to watch youtubers kick a bill around...

Also agree about the money side, too much money. The price of tickets too high, the contracts too big, the game has become very corporate.

Oh the play style sucks too. For most teams it’s either trying to replicate the good teams with endless passing for passings sake when they don’t have the players or it’s agricultural don’t lose football from 1870 which I need not explain.

Switched off Arsenal vs Brentford for Bayern vs Dortmund yesterday. Don't regret it. By and large the Bundesliga games I watch might lack the tactical sophistication of Pepball and his imitators, but there's a lovely simplicity and directness to the games which lead to chances and goals.

Spent the entire season watching level 9 non league football. Aside from the obvious quality of players, it's a far superior experience. Chatting to a few at the games, clearly others are feeling the same.

Watched Arsenal-Brentford on Saturday evening as it was the only chance that I could watch any game this weekend, including ours. Even that was a fairly poor game I thought..

The CL games in midweek were refreshing, even moreso without Average FC being involved anymore. That PSG side are what all football clubs should aspire to be - full of quality young, hungry and - above all - entertaining footballers.

Add to that, even if you play well at Klanfield, refs will find some way to fix it. Give RS a corner when keeper doesn't touch it, then in next move ref fails to give a clear foul in build up to next corner, that RS scored from. It happens every game at Anfield, Asthmatics Anonymous are allowed to commit multiple fouls when pressing opposition teams. Refs deliberately give RS players on booking a chance to get subbed. I'd like for teams not even to turn up at Anfield for this charade, or players to walk off when decisions are given against them at Anfield.

The sad thing is the first time i noticed this good run were articles today linking Glasner to bigger jobs.

The media fundamentally don’t care about clubs outside the sky six unless they’re providing viewing figures from being in a relegation scrap which equate to revenue. You watch if Wrexham ever get in the PL they’ll get more media coverage than Everton and Palave combined.

People have said in the past it’s because teams are poor but Forest Newcastle Villa Bournemouth have all had good seasons get United losing a game in 14th place still gets more attention. Mo Salah signing a contract got more analysis than Newcastle winning the Carabao Cup. Villa are in the QF of the CL and no one in the media even cares, they practically grind to a halt and hold half the paper if Liverpool are in the latter stages.

True Dat. (although Tottenham? A bigger job? Certainly more to do there I suppose. )
