See James McLean is rattling royalist heads again.
Love all the comments like 'he's happy enough to earn the UK pound, if he doesnt like it, he should go home'.
It's quite shocking how many English people on line don't know the currency in Northern Ireland.

The ignorance of some people never fails to astound me. Quite apart from some U.K. folks, I recall working in Luxembourg about 10 years ago on an EU programme and some Dutch fella was talking about various issues to do with Ireland and NI. When I talked to him he maintained that I was Scottish due to my accent! Presumably because I wasn’t speaking with a Dublin brogue then I couldn’t possibly be Irish lol

The hardliners and headbangers to whom you refer are a small group of extremists who will grab at any straw they feel may suit their cause. I have no idea about Jeffrey Donaldson’s reasoning for leading his party back into Stormont but my guess would be that he, and the number crunchers within the DUP, saw the boycott was a greater threat in the upcoming election than going back in. However that is speculation, what is known is that he secured the majority of his party’s support for going back in, having the government functioning again is the wish of the majority of the DUP and of the majority of people in Northern Ireland. Ben Habib, Jim Alister, Kate Hoey et al can have their say at the next General Election, let them put their argument in front of the Northern Ireland electorate and let us see what support they can garner.
I think either way they probably saw a major calamity coming if there were to be another Assembly Election. Whether due to the boycott or other issues, I would have expected them to get a good kicking at the election. And it was getting to the point where the SoS couldn’t keep kicking the can down the road. It’s fundamentally very dodgy ground to have officials making policy without any real political cover and it simply is not sustainable. Definitely agree the hardliners are a small group but the likes of the DUP are so inward looking at times all it takes is for some of the party officers to be captured by some notion and off we go lol

They need to get on with sorting the place out. Getting the hourly trains to Dublin sorted quickly would be nice!

The TUV and Reform are such horrible bedfellows they deserve each other. Hopefully get shown up at the next election.

2029 apparently!! What a joke that is,

….his wife was in the dock with him facing her charges. The trial will be very interesting, especially if her plea is different to his.

yeh she has 4 charges against her. they don't have to plea for a while and are both likely to plead not guilty by sounds of it.
it will drag on for a while.
