Seriously puzzled how you think an undocumented individual couldn’t live and work in the UK. You are kidding yourself to think otherwise.

My initial point was re your surely tongue in cheek comment about returning people to NI if found to be illegally in the UK. Now I’m really not so sure it was tongue in cheek.
...and how exactly are all those "illegal immigrants" that have "invaded" surviving?

On the bonfires...there was one death this year. Only a matter of time before it's more tragic.

That the death happened on council land where no attempt was made to either clear the illegal fire or at the very least risk assess it will be a fun case to see play out.

It really isn’t a good spectacle for any firms eyeing the North as an investment opportunity enabled by the outworking of the Protocol. The elected representatives of those areas now have a full year to do something about it.

I think if the family considered any type of legal action they would be pressured into rethinking very quickly by some elements in loyalism.

You're making the assumption that logic applies to these people. They would literally cut off their nose to spite their face.

I am very sad to hear of the passing of David Trimble. The GFA would not have happened without him. Of course I would have my disagreements with him politically, but I can respect what he achieved - also a great Wagner fan, so at least we would have that in common. He was head and shoulders above other so called leaders of Unionism today.

He would not have allowed this current impasse with Stormont, and I believe he would have found a way of dealing with the Protocol in a sensible way.

May he rest in peace.

There you go, you, Trimble and Hitler!
Only kidding,
All due respect to Trimble, it took brave men to stand up in the 90's and find a different path, Trimble and Hume were foremost among them.

I remember a clown of a colleague coming into my office and complaining about what I had on my CD player -she actually said Wagner was a Nazi!! I then quietly asked her to which music she walked down the aisle? Oh 'Here come's the bride' of course...... idiot. Be clear, I know he was not a nice person in some ways.

However, musically he was an absolute genius. Mozart also, but Wagner did not use a librettist - he wrote everything himself.

Anyone who has heard his operas will be stunned at his brilliance.... even Mrs BR who went to the Ring Cycle in Budapest with me a few years ago and was captivated for the full four operas.

I married in to a Wagner loving family, my wife, when about 12, sat through the whole Ring Cycle and said "that mr. Wagner writes a fine opera". Around the same time I was going to Rage against the machine at the Tivoli!
Not a huge opera fan but went to La Boheme at the Met a while ago and the production value was insane.
Where were we.
Fair play to Trimble, shame unionists seem to insist on shooting themselves in the feet!
