No. But that wasn't my point.

If you are arguing that Northern Ireland is not a country in its own right, which is what you are I believe, then applying the same argument to England Scotland and Wales, you are saying they aren't oountries in their own right either.

Quite a few Scottish Welsh and racists would disagree with you
I now see what you are saying, I am very happy that racists would disagree with me.

You wouldn’t apply the same logic to England, Scotland or Wales though, would you?

NI is best described as part of the Province of Ulster that is currently governed by the U.K.

Total faith in Brexit and the DUP to remedy this constitutional status.

Yeah but what about the Scottish and Welsh?
Looks like Scotland may become a country in it’s own right sometime soon if the early election results continue, Wales on the other hand seem very content to be linked to England. Personally I have no issue with people calling Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland a country even if, in the truest meaning of a country, they are not.

Well yes. I've always considered Northern Ireland to be a country in the same way I consider Wales, Scotland and England to be countries.

Whether that is factually correct I don't know but it's how I've always considered it. We either are all countries, or none of us are surely.

I mean, it has it's own football team and it competes in the Commonwealth games as if it's a country.

Yeah, apologies mate. My bad.

It was somebody else who pulled you up for referring to Northern Ireland as a country. My original post was actually intended to support you, not have a pop. Sort of went off piste from there.

As I said in my last post, I don't know what the actual legal status is. Globally, we're recognised as the UK rather than individual countries. And even I look upon myself as British first and English second. But whatever term is applied to the four nation states, it should apply to each of us. Don't see how you can call Northern Ireland a Provence and the other three countries.

Sports Day for the colonies lol

NI is as much known as a Province as a Country. Even the DUP will refer to it often as a Province albeit ignoring the other 3 constituent counties.

None of the other UK countries have a significant part of their population deny it’s very existence at all as a country.

It’s not really comparing apples with apples mate.

Yea it is a country it's part of the island of Ireland.100 years ago Ireland was partitioned against the wishes of the Irish people, no referendum, no democracy.Screenshot_2020-12-06-15-31-54-25.webp
