Why do you think they would do that?

A lot of politicians opposing the Tories are playing a blinder here buy simply doing nothing at all. Johnson and co have backed themselves completely into a corner, and their only answer now is to go against the agreement they themselves tried to shove through parliament without proper scrutiny. Breaking international law in the process.

The Tory party to hopefully tear itself apart over the coming weeks... Although these guys seem to have some insane Teflon properties to them and I've written them off before

There is no specific law called international law. Even the Nuremberg Trials were held under German Law. it essentially exists on goodwill and understanding between nations who sign treaties. you cannot say the UK is bound to operate in the same way that its own laws are set. anyway, there is very little chance of the rebels getting the bill thrown out, there simply arent the numbers.

That’s absolute nonsense. International treaties are covered by the Vienna convention.

So Johnson and the Tories are trying to claim that the treaty that they signed, lauded as fantastic, won an election off the back of, and all voted for (barring the 20 MP’s who had the Tory whip removed for errrmm not being behind it) is somehow now fundamentally flawed on the issue of the border in the Irish Sea.

Which was the solution that was drawn up by *checks notes* Boris Johnson and the Tories, as it avoided the need for the backstop.

Now they’re trying to spin it into the EU somehow being at fault for this? Do they really have such little respect for the intelligence of the populous? Do they think we can’t remember as far back as *checks notes* 10 months?

I remember thinking at the time that it was odd just how easily the swivel eyed ideologue lunatics of the ERG rolled over on this and voted for it. Now we know why, as they patently had no intention of ever honouring it, and sold it to them on that basis. How utterly contemptible.

They’re now prepared to literally risk the GFA being scuppered whilst simultaneously breaking International law, due solely to a Tory party internal melodrama, same as what drove the entire farce that is Brexit.

They couldn’t give a stuff about NI nor the island of Ireland, this is all about the wretched ideology of a ‘pure’ Brexit. For shame.

Johnson's declaration this week that he intends to pass a bill which will effectively rip up the Irish protocol agreed in the exit treaty is tantamount to declaring a cold war on Ireland and our partners in the EU. If passed it will set back Anglo-Irish relations by decades and destabilize the fragile peace that has lasted for 20 years now.

The nerve of this man to claim that his actions are intended to preserve peace prove that he is a clueless buffoon who doesn't know what he is talking about or dealing with. Using provocative language such as claiming that the EU has an underhand plot to 'carve up' the UK when his imperialist actions are likely to reinforce the carve up of Ireland by way of the reappearance of the border displays a breathtaking irony, as does his claim that Brexit is about regaining independence, which his government continues to deny to others. His continued references to claiming NI as the UK's 'territory' reinforces this point and will be seen as antagonistic if not warmongering by some on this side of the Irish Sea.

This action proves beyond any doubt that Johnson along with his cabal in Downing Street is a pathological liar who will do or say anything to get what he wants. It negates any chance that the UK government can be trusted in future to keep its side of an international agreement that it makes with any country. It stops any chance of there being a UK trade agreement with the EU or the USA. Britain is about to become completely isolated on the world stage all because of Tory vanity project fuelled by English nationalism. Those who voted for him should hand their heads in shame.

Unambiguous in her condemnation but surprisingly quiet on any action. Sammy and Ian Og are running circles around her and she is so weak in her position she can’t sanction either of them.
While I’m surprised she has lasted this long, you would think the only reason for this is no credible contender willing to actually step up.

She may well have been unambiguous in her condemnation but she was and is surprisingly silent on any action, as is Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, the leader of the party at Westminster.
Sammy and Ian Og run rings around her and she is such a weak leader she cannot sanction either of them.

The likes of Sammy and, in particular Ian og, are now far bigger than the party.

Ian og has been found guilty of fiddling expenses yet again but Mrs. Foster is powerless to censure him or fire him.

If she did boot him out the party and he resigned his seat, he would run as an Independent and totally humiliate the DUP.

The DUP is a cancer in NI....just as it was cancerous to Theresa May when she got into bed with them.
