Heads are rolling, jobs are being lost and our Taoiseach and Tanaiste are publically pressing Hogan to account for his actions after his non-apology. I know accountability looks strange to you Pete, but over here we don't generally accept the "driving 40 miles to test my eyesight" type of excuses

I know. I thought it was good to see the resignations happen so quickly. I’ll put a side bet on the fact that Hogan won’t resign though.....

Aye. Bet he wishes he was an advisor to Boris Johnson

Actually and as I said, I was quite impressed with the Irish guys for immediately resigning. The ROI leaders then put huge pressure on Hogan, but nothing until the bullet arrived. My guess is that if Hogan were still an ROI politician he would have resigned sharpish, like the others. But once the big salary comes along, and the perks, and the expenses, and the swanning around at important EU meetings, it’s a devil to give it up. But at least he will now get a superb EU pension....

Your unconcealed surprise at fairly standard examples of accountability is a bit of an indictment on your own lads. I was shocked that Cummings' eye test excuse wasn't laughed all the way out of Downing Street, but there you go
