Hezbollah is deeply implicated in global financing through extensive drug trafficking and money-laundering operations, particularly in Latin America. One of thier key financial strategies is their involvement in the cocaine trade. Since at least the mid-2000s, Hezbollah has established large scale cocaine trafficking networks, particularly in the Tri-Border Area (Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay). These networks have been identified as shipping ton loads of cocaine globally, generating billions in revenue for the group. This narco-terrorism hybrid allows them to simultaneously fund its activities and destabilise regions by supporting organised crime. Despite all the sanctions and investigations, Hezbollah’s illicit activities remains a cornerstone of its financial strategy.
They have been implicated in a variety of human rights abuses during its involvement in the Syrian Civil War, where the group supported the Assad regime. Reports found that Hezbollah fighters have been involved in atrocities against Syrian civilians, including acts of violence such as summary executions and torture, with allegations of rape and human/sex trafficking.
