I do wonder if the backlash over this, if there is one domestically, is going to come from the absolute lies that state representatives (that they had had repeated contact with persons aboard the crashed helicopter) told rather than the fact Taisi is dead.

It’s hard enough to run a government that has a reputation for telling whoppers normally, but when one is explicitly based on religious faith it’s even more dangerous.

I see idiots in the EU, note not individual countries who appear to be aghast, had offered mapping support to find him and that fool Charles Michel has posted on X “The EU expresses its sincere condolences for the death of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian”…he then goes on fairly to say “as well as other members of their delegation and crew in a helicopter accident. Our thoughts go to the families.”

There will be uproar over this. Why offer mapping support under the hashtag #EUsolidarity, or make any comment about condolences for this man. This will of course be spun by its leadership suggesting the EU supports them…I think they’ve shot themselves in the foot here…..

Alright then, there's a vacancy for president of Iran

- has to be conservative
- has to have a unwillingness to change
- Can't and will not apologize for his errors
- has to hate youth and their demands for change
- has to love living in an isolated country with comprehensive border checks.
- has to blind to the hypocrisy of his way
- has to be 70+

@peteblue what are you doing next friday and can you come to Tehran for an interview.

Also he hates Iran, which seems to be a requisite for the job too.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free for all the weapons I can get ya!"

No flipping burgers round here boyo!

Israel offensive in Lebanon could increase risk of broader war, U.S. general says

Also Iran

Key Takeaways:

  • Iran: Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei expressed foreign and nuclear policy views on June 25 that closely align with ultraconservative hardline presidential candidate Saeed Jalili’s views, possibly indicating that Khamenei endorses Jalili in the upcoming election. Khamenei’s views also signal the supreme leader’s opposition to reformist candidate Masoud Pezeshkian.
  • Gaza Strip: Israel assesses that it will complete the intense phase of ground operation in the Gaza Strip within a few days. Hamas will very likely exploit the Israeli raid system to reconstitute its combat units and reassert its governing authority across the Gaza Strip.
  • Hamas is disrupting Israeli efforts to create nascent governing authorities that exclude Hamas’ political wing. Hamas reportedly killed two clan leaders in the central and southern Gaza Strip as part of this effort
  • Jordan: Iranian-backed groups are continuing to recruit members and smuggle and manufacture weapons, likely to destabilize Jordan and facilitate Iranian efforts in the West Bank.
  • West Bank: Hamas and the al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades infiltrated Israeli territory near Tulkarm and fired at IDF soldiers.
  • Southern Lebanon and Golan Heights: US presidential envoy Amos Hochstein warned Hezbollah that the group cannot rely on the United States to prevent Israel from conducting an attack into Lebanon.
  • Iraq: The Islamic Resistance in Iraq—a coalition of Iranian-backed Iraqi militias—claimed a drone attack targeting an unspecified “military target” in Haifa, Israel

Yes, Iran was a much different place. It’s almost unbelievable the ‘before’ and ‘after’ situations….
Yep a real paradise under the Shah 🙄

"Writing at the time of the Shah's overthrow, Time magazine on February 19, 1979, described SAVAK as having "long been Iran's most hated and feared institution" which had "tortured and murdered thousands of the Shah's opponents."The Federation of American Scientists also found it guilty of "the torture and execution of thousands of political prisoners" and symbolizing "the Shah's rule from 1963–79." The FAS list of SAVAK torture methods included "electric shock, whipping, beating, inserting broken glass and pouring boiling water into the rectum, tying weights to the testicles, and the extraction of teeth and nails."
