Yeah it’s a real crap-fest. Middle East has never been any different though, everyone wants a piece of someone. If this current situation somehow miraculously dies down then something else will spark another kick-off in a couple of months/years time.
It will never end. Iran, Israel, Saudi, Turkey, Syria all have blood on their hands. Then there’s the outsiders. U.K. US, France constantly dabbling and messing stuff up.
Regarding the current crisis I for one don’t see that Iran can play the innocent victim here given their antics over the years. Israel on the other hand should have known better than to target their embassy when they could easily have picked off the IGRC top brass at any other given location and time. I just don’t see the logic behind the attack.
As for Irans response, I’d say it was planned to inflict maximum exposure and minimal damage to Israel so as not to provoke another escalation. It could yet still backfire on them - we shall have to see if Israel uses its noggin for once.
Dunno about you, but I thinking because of all this aggro the plight of the Palestinians in Gaza has largely been forgotten about in the MSM.
Oh and as a final addition to my rant - where were all these peace activists when Aleppo was being bombed into the Stone Age? Where was the public outcry against the Iranian backed militias who raped and killed tens of thousands in Syria?
I agree with most of this.
Regarding Syria there were protest against the leadership in Syria, the Russians and the Iranians who were there fighting ISIS just like the west was when they were dropping bombs and missiles.
The two biggest threats to peace in the Middle East in my eyes are Iran and its proxies on one side, the other is Israel and its extremists settle government/movement.
Both driven by religious fundamentalist although more so in the Iranian government but the Israelis are just as bad.
What confuses me is why the Iranian government is demonised (rightly so) and the Israelis get away with it big style (They even get protection from western militaries) even though they get huge amounts in military aid.
They refuse to even contemplate a political settlement with the Palestinians as it means they will have to cede land. So we can blast the Iranians till kingdom come but until there is justice for the Palestinians there will never be peace.
As long as the Palestinians are getting massacred by the Israelis then the Iranians will have huge influence. Solve that crisis then perhaps the Iranian influence will dissipate.
Thing is no one in Israel or the west has an appetite to push for a two state solution hence the cycle of violence continues.
If the west really want a stable and secure Middle East they would put massive pressure on Israel to negotiate with the Palestinians in good faith. As they are the ones who are refusing to negotiate. Once the current war is over and BiBi and his cronies are bounced out the Palestinians need to be given their god given human rights…..that is not Israel’s gift to give.
At the moment there is no good leadership in Israel or Palestinians to make it happen and the west won’t/don’t want to upset the Israelis.
