Pakistan barely controls that area anyway TBF - they themselves have lost at least seven security personnel over the past four days to ambushes and an IED from various groups. This may also be payback for the IS-claimed bombing at Solemani's funeral (edit: sorry, memorial) too.
Don’t think they’re too pleased about it. Couple of Pakistani civilians got toasted

Pakistan has launched air strikes agaist Iran.
Getting messy now

A proportional response, no Iranian citizens killed and targeting the Baloch terrorist groups hiding on the Iranian side of the border.

This shouldn’t result in an escalation between the states unless Iran really wants to kick something off now, and one would think their mutual ally (China) would step in at this point.

The timing of Iran hitting targets inside Pakistan is suspiciously close to the bombing of the memorial for commander Qassem Soleimani. Could be PR deflection or possibly that Iran had intel.

At least 9 killed mate

One of their statements about that massacre was somewhat strangely worded in that it said the bomb-maker (who they claimed was a dual Tajik / Israeli national) entered Iran from the south east and left via there before the attack. It also said he'd been trained by IS in Afghanistan, with the oddness being that if he'd entered from Afghanistan they would have said that (the implication being he'd gone in from Pakistan).

I think its more likely than not that it was in retaliation for the memorial bombing, as well as a load of other recent attacks, with no intent to harm Pakistani forces although of course the level of embarrassment caused demanded a reaction - which has been delivered (and to much the same sort of separatist group as Iran bombed FWIW).

This Iran - Pakistan thing still rumbling on and has the potential for escalation.

Iranian militia in Iraq are now claiming to have shot down a U.S. MQ9 reaper drone.

The US today launched a 5th round of attacks against the Houthis in Yemen.

A few minutes ago the UKMTO reports an attack on a merchant vessel in the Arabian gulf.

Things are certainly hotting up

Knowing nothing of Iranian Pakistan relations. Have they got a history of any trouble between them?
