To this extent, you're probably right. The point I suspect he was making is whether this is because of what's happening in Israel, or it's allowed them to do it.
Honestly, I do think this is less to do with supporting the Palestine and more to do with their own gains, but that's not to say helping Gaza won't alleviate this.

Iran have already been called out as being behind the Hamas attack that started this sorry mess. We might not get the specifics for a while but it is well known that Hamas and the Houthi's are Irans proxies. It'd be naive to believe that current actions are not linked to varying degrees.
But the Gaza situation is their situation - they (iran) see Israel murdering their senior military personnel at will as well as nuclear sites and any reprisals are met with threats from the US. Exactly the same now, Israel flattens an entire Islamic country, if Iran/Lebanon threaten to retaliate, the US and the UK roll up their military might. They are surrounded by US air bases and have been for decades.
They are all powerless to act without fear the west will blow them sky high.
We are literally the terrorists here.

I hate to say it but Gazans are just pawns under the Iran regimes lust for power. Look at how they treat their own people.
Also worth noting that within this game of geopolitical chess that whilst we lauded South Africa for their clear moral stance that you have to ask why Putins South African friends with their concern for international law repeatedly refused to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and targeting of civilians, said that they would not fulfil an ICC warrant to arrest Putin when he was due to visit the BRICS forum, until backed into it became clear internationally why they took this stance; and is also accused of sending arms to Moscow to use against Ukrainina civilians.
Much more going on that is causing all of the issues.

Absolutely -geoploitics in full effect. It is a stupidly complicated situation with many political facets - many seem so intertwined and actually appear to conflict with each other - very strange.
I do not mean to go but, the Gaza situation is very different. Decades of western complicity leading to this genocide. Nothing to do with Iran in the broader sense, simply Israel doing what Israel is doing is the cause. IMO of course
