There's a lot of tension at the moment in Iran, a plane crashed there and everyone's suspending flights over that exact country, so yeah you're chatting out your arse.

Especially since the IDF bombed their fast breeder reactor and enrichment site about 5 years ago and Mossad took out most of the team working on it. That's what really killed off the Iranian bomb.

It just seems to me that wherever Trump moves the line, his followers will move with it. It's hard to fathom how such a clueless idiot has you all enthralled
 
I'm hoping that it will calm down a little now, and hopefully not re-escalate.

I have no beef with the people of them middle east. I hope that they find a peaceful way out of this and that we in the west are judicious in using our influence/ power/ etc. to aid in this.

Soleimani was obviously a wrong un, and Iran through him have been provoking everyone for a long time that something like this was bound to flare up to some degree. Trump strikes me as impulsive and sometimes that is a necessary evil. I hope now that more calming influences on all sides win out and things start to lose their heat over there.

Throwaway thought: Yesterday it occurred to be that Iran was almost like a 'science fiction' society to me - Theocratic leadership and judicial system there as opposed to democratic here, so there would be major differences, but then on top of that it's based on an Abrahamic religion which have held sway in the west too for 1500 to 2000 years so things should not be so alien between either side.

I look at the hold evangelical nutcases have on the Republican party and I'm not sure I see a great deal of difference tbh.

Can’t find anything about that. Got any links? All I’d read previously is that Mossad confirmed they could find no evidence of Iran making weapons, same as numerous UN inspections.

Any plans for Israel to do anything about its big nuclear arsenal?

I'm sorry, I've got myself confused. It was 2007 and it was Syria.

As to your second point (and not derailing the thread by getting into the rights and wrongs of it) as a state which relies on a big stick for it's continued existence, probably not.

Confused as to how that "killed off the Iranian bomb" when it's a Syrian facility and has not so much as touched any facilities on Iranian soil.
