No poop Sherlock.

I said the same yesterday and got shouted down by someone.

Too much of a coincidence with missiles flying around at the same time.

Who shot it down though, the Iranians, the Iraqis or someone else?

If it’s the Iranians I hope Donald gives them some more pain.

well the Americans do have form for shooting down commercial airliners over Iranian airspace..

Add to that, the plane is only three years old and the circumstances of its crash (sudden drop in altitude) alerted a lot of officials that engine failure was unlikely.

In that instance, its velocity and altitude wouldn't drop so drastically, and I've been told that the data uplink to Boeing suggested this as well. Why would they do it?

I suspect that someone's trigger finger got a bit itchy and they flinched.

It’s a strange one though isn’t it, if deliberate there is little for Iran to gain...so either accidental or simple incompetence if true...

Is this the same US (un)intelligence that detected the locations of WMD's in Iraq.
The Middle East is becoming the new SE Asia and how did that turn out for the Yanks.......they will turn up bomb the crap out of your country and then when you have had enough they will offer to repair all of the damage they caused for payment in oil.

Iraq is a shining example of how to make the UK a safer place to live......we have been here before!

The Iranian regime is properly terrible.

Can we all accept that?

Killing the general was - honestly - morally, the right thing to do. A disgusting person who will have been responsible for many more deaths than just American soldiers. For the last few years, his forces have been murdering and kidnapping protestors in southern Iraq. People protesting against Sharia law.

Obviously, he'd be alive if the US still had uses for him. I'm not saying it's a case of right and wrong. To escalate tensions was ludicrous.

But Iran is backwards. FFS, women have only just been allowed into stadiums to watch matches in the past two years.

But wasn't he doing a job on ISIS? If you put his assassination together with the US connivance in creating a vacuum that Turkey filled and derailed the Kurds' efforts against ISIS - that's tantamount to handing a death cult the breathing space it needs to come back again.

Cheney and rumsfeld surpressed info about Isis which gave 2 free years for it to develop. Trump has done everything he can to give them a chance to regroup.

A synical person would suggest it suits America to have such a destabilising force in that region.

You need an external enemy of you're the only military superpower - even if you have to make the threat up.

His forces have - reportedly - been helping train ISIS fighters and provide them with high-grade weaponary.

I imagine it's probably a bit of both. Like I've said, if the US still had use for him, he'd be alive. But as it is they took a chance on information that was clearly accurate (didn't they only hit the car he was in, for example, out of a convoy?).

I'm not saying it's the right action. I just feel no sympathy for him - or really the Iranian regime.

Hmm, how would they know? The black boxes havent been turned over by Iran and I doubt any sort of American/foreign investigators have been on site to see the wreckage. It may well have been Iran but the evidence to back up the allegation is more than likely as thin as the evidence of the 'imminent threat'

Agree, but women in America cant control their own bodies so its not so different in many ways.
