Investment doom and gloom?

We're in danger of having a squad with everyone fit and youngsters breaking through, we need to sort out and sell a few its not the Everton way!

I wonder when the Baxter factor will kick of.

whether you're pro- or anti- there's no escaping the fact that we're going to be stuck in a bit of a hiatus regarding investment until we think we know where we're going on the stadium issue.

I was led to believe that Bill "Watch this space" Kenwright would like to remain in some sort of position even after completing any takeover.
So I suspect that he is not looking for a takeover but just an investor ?
In which case the chances are looking pretty slim at the moment.

Maybe not so bad though. It's those businessmen who have funded full on takeovers who have fared worst. Of the premiership clubs taken over in the past few years only Man U have actually made any money and it's interesting how after the initial bad reaction their American owners faded into the background. There's a few other club owners will be wishing they could do the same.

Given the care with which Bill has avoided racking up extra debt in the hope of greater success i think it may be possible to attract new money from a minority investor - assuming they are given a veto on the board. I've seen similar deals worked in other sectors - even in the oil business. It's not unknown.

although Kenwright hasn't "done a leeds", the level of debt now is far greater than when he gained control of the club & will leap dramatically if the club proceed with the move to Kirkby.

Surely though now, given the current climate any thoughts of moving to kirby must be shelved??

It'd be madness to go ahead with the move mainly becuase of the lack of money thats about the general economy

How much greater - and what has the money been used for?

i don't have the figures to hand, but they're quite readily available - it's not a secret that our debt is growing.

as for the expenditure, i'm sure your guess as to the main costs of a football club would be as good as mine, but again the information available would probably give a clue.

if you're really interested, i believe that toffeeweb, for one example, normally do an analysis of the annual accounts. i'd also expect there to be some information on the official site.

Cheers, I'll take a look.

Occurred to me later though that the low interest rates will make the debt more manageable, assuming both expendeture and income are stable.

yes, hopefully managing our current debt may become a little less burdensome, until rates go up in due course - as is widely predicted. i think the big problem may come when/if the club seek to increase the level of debt they're carrying.
