"This, the debate over foreign ownership of clubs and the worsening UK economic climate contributed to their decision to pull out,"

Could this mean impending doom in terms of investment for Everton?
Could it spell investors getting cold feet over us in the future?

Zabeel Investments have released a statement saying they are not currently interested in buying an English Club...Ahwell...

I think that the clubs who have current foreign ownership ought to be a bit more concerned on several fronts.

By the way. Stupid question here but I guess I've never really bothered to look but we all know who owns Chelsea (Abramovich), ManU (Glazers), and Liverpool (Gillett, Hicks), but I'm drawing a blank. Who owns Arsenal? Do they have one outright owner or do they have several owners with a percentage of ownership?

I just don't recall hearning much about Arsenal's owner(s) in the press.

They got a [Poor language removed] load of publicity - Charlton, WHU, Newcastle, Everton. Did they have any intention of buying? Sounds a bit lame that part of their excuse in not buying Charlton was the debate on foreign ownership.

Thought BK had flown out looking for investment a couple of weeks back?? or did he just hit the ladyboys bars instead

Ian Ross was pretty clear as I recall that BK had not flown anywhere. Everton have since let it be known that they've hired this guy to go out and drum up some investment. Yes, it will be harder in the current economic climate, but the upside is that hopefully the effect of the credit crunch can be factored in before we do a deal. In other words we should have a better idea of the real assets and real worth of any potential investors, and will be less likely to be hit by any nasty surprises later on, as has happened at West Ham.

I was led to believe that Bill "Watch this space" Kenwright would like to remain in some sort of position even after completing any takeover.
So I suspect that he is not looking for a takeover but just an investor ?
In which case the chances are looking pretty slim at the moment.

Excellent. Thank you.

Since Arsenal is owned by "Arsenal Holdings PLC" does that mean it's traded as public company on the FTSE?

Arsenal is a private company, although it's shares are traded on Plus (formerly known as OFEX). PLC just denotes a company having share capital of more than £50,000 . A company with less than £50,000 share capital uses Ltd. instead.

Here's more fuel to the fire. Specifically, concerning Tom Hicks (partial owner of the "generic red team") and his HSG (Hicks Sports Group) that owns two Dallas area franchises (baseball & hockey). HSG has defaulted on interest payments and is looking to restructure debt.

The article states that this does not directly impact the generic red team. But can it only be a matter of time? His leveraged ownership position in the US has been mimicked in some for or fashion in the UK.

And really, this just may be another leading indicator of things to come across all of sports. Hopefully, EFC's conservative approach will help them whether the storms but I don't see how we can raise another £15M for a Moutinho-type when credit isn't readily available. So when I see the transfer threads popping up with 7-digit figures bandied about it just doesn't add up in my small mind.
