Interest in Everton’s finances and in general football

I tend to agree with your point and don't follow it particularly closely, but I feel that people's insecurity and inability to enjoy the realisation that the blues are now absolutely tilled stems from the fact that the sole increase in revenue comes from TV revenues which we know to be a fickle and short termist mistress.
Thus, as soon as that bubble bursts, the sustainability of our current model would immediately be called into question.. (and then the possibility of 'going under' would become all the more real)

I agree, it’s another excuse to moan about something you have very little knowledge about.
Could you imagine being Moshiri, who has been an accountant for billion dollar companies, and have to sit and listen to amateur detective accountants who suddenly know more about your business than the one you literally own.
Evertonians are quite the self-loathing bunch.

There is this thing called FFP put in place to stop club owners from putting in too much personal cash. So to buy better players with higher buyout clauses and attract them with humongous wages, Everton have to be smart on the financial front.
MU, Liverpool and City have sponsors from the big companies. Ok City have puppet sponsors basically bankrolled by the Sheikhs but still.

It seems to be the in thing to be an armchair accountant these days.

I’ve never seen the attraction to it. I honestly think some people get off more on making a profit via trading players than seeing a new signing.

I get that money is a big part of footbuall, but don’t try to tell me that it’s interesting. It’s as dull a subject as can be.

I like discussing it because at least I can try and apply some of my life experience t try and work out what's going on.

Whereas when I try and do that about the actual match I'm forced to recall just how bad at football I am/was/forever will be...

I think it's mad not to worry about finances when they're so important to where any club will be say 5 years from now. You can't wish away the fact that some clubs are more effective brands and if we ever want to return to the top of the English game we need to compete financially. Sticking one's head in the sand won't help.

The 50 million we paid for Richarlison didn't just come from nowhere. I wish it wasn't the case but finances are important.

Id be the opposite, in fact i dont separate it from anything else going on at the club i have an interest in it all, it can tell you an awful lot about the welfare of the club, ownership board competency and predict things like transfer windows, stadium, budgets, investment, bad decsion making etc and i like to analyse it and draw conclusions, they are just personal opinions mind and i like hearing what other people think as well.

I wouldn't say its exciting, its as exciting as the Arsenal game a little while back, one of those labor of love things.

Why have you created a thread on it then?
