Those teams have all spent huge amounts in recent years and right up to this summer. I honestly have no clue if they can't spend any more. But I don't read much into a January window because that's not where we see most big transfers.

Brighton have sold lots of good players for big money so fair play to them. But it shouldn't have to be the case that smaller teams are expected to sell their best players continually, before they spend money.

They are well run businesses, success follows that. Brentford and Brighton are just so well run, well planned, take sensible decisions.

100%. Fans want to see their own academy kids come through and star for their own club. It’s just another example of the rules of the game giving fans the opposite of what they want.

Since FFP/financial regulation has come in there's been 4 players sold for £100mill in the PL alone. This in turn drives the market up.

If these regulations were effective, there'd be no way a club can spend that much on 1 player (Chelsea bought 2) without looking to balance the books.

But they got round a loop hole which helps the clubs but the damage has already been done to the market.

I don't think it is a valid point. Under the current system if an owner messes things up they leave the club £105 million in debt. There's half a chance that a relegated club can sell enough players to avoid administration. If that was increased to £218 million any club relegated and in that much debt is almost certain to go bankrupt if their owner stops funding them. Personally I'd say no club can lose any money, but bring in a transfer spending limit and wage cap that's the same for every club.
